The articles on the individual people bring together all known details in each case and give information on the present state of research. Both sections contain comprehensive indexes of names, variants of names, offices, titles, places and geographical terms, which facilitate use of the work. A subject index and online versions of all the indexes are in preparation. Thus the Prosopography is a research instrument of use both to the specialist and to all those just looking for rapid information on individuals, a region or a particular event.; The Prosopographie der mittelbyzantinischen Zeit is a comprehensive biographical dictionary of the eastern Mediterranean including Byzantine Italy in the early Middle Ages. It is published in two sections of five volumes documenting more than 20,000 persons in total. The first section covers the period 641-867, the second section 867-1025. In addition to the five volumes, each section includes not only a prolegomena volume, which covers the most important Byzantine and other relevant sources, but also a concluding volume containing lists of abbreviations, indices, addenda, and corrigenda. It t…akes account of the fact that the fascinating development of Romance literatures and cultures both in Europe and beyond has set in motion worldwide dynamics which continue the great traditions of the Romance world and open up new horizons for them. mimesis works from a transareal understanding of Romance Studies which integrates Romance literatures and cultures both within and outside Europe and which transcends the national and disciplinary boundaries which often conceal the interactions between different traditions and developmentsin Europe and the Americas, in Africa and Asia. In the archipelago of Romance Studies, mimesis reveals how the representation of reality in the Romance literatures of the world opens the door to a multilingual cosmos of diverse logics. ; Gegenstand der Untersuchung sind die gesellschaftskritischen Werke der Autorin Annie Ernaux (\*1940, Prix Renaudot 1983), welche um das autobiographisch motivierte Thema des Bildungsaufstiegs kreisen. Zum ersten Mal wird durch eine detaillierte erzähltextgrammatische Einzelwerkanalyse und synoptische Zusammenschau die Vielschichtigkeit dieser kontrovers diskutierten Texte gewürdigt. Die untersuchten Werke offenbaren dabei eine ganze Reihe von Besonderheiten, wie z.B. eine ungewöhnliche Form-Inhalt-Spiegelung und eine Erzähltechnik, die den Leser das Leid der Aufsteiger selbst durchleben läßt.
