In 1893, Swami Vivekananda went to the United States to participate in the Parliament World's Religions and got overwhelming success and public attention. Between 1893 to 1897, Vivekananda travelled extensively to many cities of the United States and England and conducted hundreds of public and private lectures and classes. The book Karma Yoga was first published in 1896. The lectures of this book were recorded by professional stenographer Joseph Josiah Goodwin (initially Goodwin was hired to record Swamiji's lectures, later he became a friend of follower of Vivekananda). The book is divided into eight chapters. The primary topic of all these chapters is "Karma" or "work". In this book, Vivekananda discussed Bhagavad Gita's concepts on Karma Yoga and explained the way one should do his or her works or fulfill his duties without being attached to it in order to attain liberation.

Aryabhatiya or Aryabhatiyam, a Sanskrit astronomical treatise, is the magnum opus and only known surviving work of the 5th century Indian mathematician Aryabhata (476550 CE) who was the first of the major mathematician-astronomers from the classical age of Indian mathematics and Indian astronomy and played an important role in shaping scientific astronomy in India. Based on the parameters used in the text, the philosopher of astronomy Roger Billard estimated that the book was written around 510 CE. The present work 'The ryabhatya of ryabhata: An Ancient Indian Work on Mathematics and Astronomy translated with notes by W. E. Clark is a preliminary study based on inadequate material. Of several passages no translation has been given or only a tentative translation has been suggested. The present translation will have served its purpose if it succeeds in attracting the attention of Indian scholars to the problem, arousing criticism and encouraging them to make available more adequate manuscript material. Walter Eugene Clark (1881-1960) was the Professor of Sanskrit in Harvard University.

In Unto this Last, Ruskin set out to define wealth, and then to show that wealth can only be acquired under certain moral conditions, such as honesty and justice. This book is a series of four essays on the politics of economics, considered by Ruskin as one of his most important works. "Unto This Last" argues that economics, art and science must have a foundation in morality. Ruskin, who cannot be strictly labeled as a liberal or conservative in his political ideology, crafts a thought-provoking exposition of prevailing economic theories that is as relevant today as when first written.

Aggiungi al carrelloSoft cover. Condizione: New. 1st Edition. From the Preface: This novel is the English translation of Eeshaan Mahesh's spiritual novel 'Jana tha Ganga paar'. The novel was originally written in Hindi. The story of this novel is based on the notable legendary episode of Lord Rama and Kevata, the boatman. The sequence of the story says that Lord Rama along with his wife, Sita and his younger brother, Lakshamana were proceeding towards the forests to fulfill their vow of banishment. There, to cross the river Ganges, they happened to board a boat of a boatman named Kevata. His exceptional character made the whole episode dramatic and mysterious. When after crossing the river, Lord Rama asked the boatman about the fare that has to be paid for the ride, Kevata, the boatman, simply asks Rama to do the same when he, after his death comes to Rama's Ghat, the final doorstep, then he must take him across that. This novel has peeped into the mystery of the statement given by Kevata. How could he recognize the fact that Rama was the incarnation of the ultimate; though many sages of that time only recognized Rama as a loyal Prince of King of Ayodhya. Only the seven divine sages considered Rama as incarnation of God.
