Neuware - Computer-mediated communication technologies have tended to evolve independently from the social environment of the virtual communities they serve. This book analyses some resulting limitations of current implementations of computer-mediated communication technology and discusses their inhibiting effects on possible developments of virtual communities. A Socio-Technical Indicator Model is introduced that utilizes integrated feedback to resolve some of these limitations by describing, simulating and operationalising increasing representativeness within a variety of structurally and parametrically diverse systems. An illustrative application is described that parameterises virtual communities to function as self-transforming social-technical systems which are sensitive to emergent and shifting community values as products of on-going communications within the collective, of which e-democracy is an important sub-class. A simulation is presented of the model's application to representative moderation in virtual communities. The simulation demonstrates system conditions for convergence and for status stability of Special Interest Groups that promote differing community values.

Neuware - The chapters in this book should stimulate the reader not only to think about the kind of leadership that is needed to improve schools in the Caribbean (using 'schools' in the widest sense to range from early childhood to higher education institutions) but also other forms of support. The book deals in detail with issues of leadership. At the theoretical level there is exploration of appropriate models of leadership in the effort to create effective schools. At the practical level the importance of the principal's role is explored. This book is very timely and should prove informative not only to current and prospective leaders but also to students and scholars both locally and internationally with an interest in Caribbean education. The chapters are written in a sufficiently user- friendly style to be of interest also to the general public who want to see the process of transformation realised in our education systems.

Neuware - 'The foresights of the editors, and the rigorous research of the authors, have come together to provide us with this invaluable publication.Interwoven in the issues and findings of the research essays in this collection are two recurring themes; the identification of challenges posed in preparing Caribbean students to be positive actors in the new global network and the isolation of challenges posed in developing these global relations. Over recent years, many of our teachers in the Caribbean have been recruited to work in metropolitan centres in North America and Europe. In many instances they have been placed in the centres with Caribbean communities. These teachers can, therefore, benefit from the findings of these research papers and better deal with the patterns of language use, crises identification and other unique situations faced by our students abroad. The content of this publication should therefore be a 'must read' for all our teachers - to give them new insights and direct information on what they are confronting and what approaches they need to take.'Maxine Henry-Wilson, MPMinister for Education, Youth and Culture, Jamaica.

Neuware - 'Research: New and Practical Approaches' has been written primarily as a guide for Education, Psychology and Social Science students who 'have to complete a research project or thesis' in order to graduate but we also believe that those who are already carrying out research will find this text a useful companion. Research procedures have four main parts - how to collect your data, how to analyse it, how to interpret the results of your analysis, and how to write it. This text offers guidelines on how to choose a project or research topic that fits your circumstances and then how to choose the most suitable research design for it. The text is an amalgam of information that is usually found in a variety of different texts - an introduction to research, statistical analyses, and research writing. We believe that this text will remove some of the mystery that surrounds the research process and thesis writing. We think that you, as the researcher and thesis writer, do not have to reinvent the wheel. There are standard procedures for basic research and you should not have to do a lot of extra research to find out how to carry out these procedures and then do even more research to be able to write them up for your final paper. In a way, this text can be considered a 'cook book' approach to the research process! We provide the essential ingredients and give you some basic recipes - show you what is available and offer advice as to what is required when you have made your choice.

Aggiungi al carrelloBuch. Condizione: Neu. Neuware - This is the third handbook in the series 'International Cultures of Education'. It is the work of 131 authors and associate editors from 29 countries and is in two volumes. This is the second volume and it addresses Education Policy concerns related to 'Economic influences, Standards and Governance'. This third handbook is in part an international response to the devastating effects of Neoliberal policies on government-controlled mass education around the world. Education builds Cultural Identities - the rich possibilities of who we can be. The problem in education addressed here, put simply, is Neoliberal policies on government-controlled mass education around the world are diminishing the diversity of cultural Identities both of educationists and of students. The performativity of neoliberal enculturation makes immoral neoliberal academics from traditional educators. The pedagogy of neoliberal enculturation reduces the infinite potential of students to only that of 'Employee-ment' - the Cultural Identity of an ideal employee. Further, the neoliberal education policies, which privilege only monetary indicators for maximising competition whilst minimising cost, have overall effects of reducing educational resources, reducing employment and greatly increasing the burdens of poverty. This handbook offers a novel integrative approach and alternative resolutions to these international issues and concerns reported in its forty-two chapters by using a Culturometric analysis of related global and local (glocal) influences of neoliberal policy on education from the unifying fundamental perspective of individual and institutional Cultural Identity - its expression, promotion and survival.

Aggiungi al carrelloBuch. Condizione: Neu. Neuware - This International Handbook of Cultures of Teacher Education is one of the books in the Analytrics 'Cultures of Education' series. The series editor is Guy Tchibozo, Professor of Education at The University of Limoges, France. This volume is edited by Béatrice Boufoy-Bastick an International University Exchange Coordinator, Senior Lecturer in French and TESOL and researcher in the field of Culturometrics at the University of the West Indies in Trinidad. This handbook looks at case examples of current issues occurring across the globe in the field of Teacher Education through the new cultural perspectives of Culturometrics. Over one-hundred widely experienced Educationalists have contributed their specific areas of expertise to this volume. The volume presents comparative international examples of issues in two major areas of Teacher Education vis in Curriculum and in Pedagogy. It shows how this innovative cultural perspective sheds new light on common problems in Teacher Education and suggests alternative 'relational' explanations that can lead to innovative solutions. The chapters illustrate, in different ways, how their particular educational enterprise is successful to the extent that it has a shared meaning for the stakeholders through which the behaviours of the stakeholders communicate mutual values, attitudes and purposes in negotiations of cultural identities.
