The horse has been known to man for a time pre-dating recorded history. Originally hunted for food, later becoming a beast of burden, a method of transportation, an instrument of war, a power source for farm equipment, a swift and exciting runner, and finally a form of pleasure and recreation. The advent of mechanized farm equipment and transportation shifted much of the emphasis on the horse from work, to pleasure.
