He explores the depths of the different watches mentioned in the bible and uncovers the physical and spiritual symbolism of each. He also encourages the church to collect the blessings of "spoils" that the Lord will restore to them in this season of 'Great Grace', as Jehoshaphat did in 2nd Chronicles 20:25. Readers are guided on the types of prayers to pray at the different watches so that their prayers will be effective and not be prayed amiss. Apostle Baker has called the "eleventh-hour set", or the "5'O Clock Crew" to get out of the ceiled buildings and go to the highways, byways, and hedges to seek souls for the kingdom of God, as demonstrated by Jesus in Matthew 20:1-16. Join Apostle Baker as he inspires and provides a renewed sense of purpose to the body of Christ to navigate the evil times and collect the spoils. Aggiungi al carrelloPaperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. A book of five short stories1. "Oh threats of hell and hopes of paradise"2. "One thing at least is certain, this life flies"3. "One thing is certain and the rest is lies"4. "The flower that once has blown forever dies"5. "I sent my soul into the invisible some letter of the afterlife spell" My stories (five) are told in the first person and inspired by the "Rubaiyat" of Omar Khayyam, the twelfth century philosopher and Edgar Allen Poe. They tell of rape, murder, a philandering preacher, an engineer driven to the gates of insanity by his perfectionist ideals and a despondent professor attempting to leave his legacy by trying to prove Carl Jung's theory of the collective unconscious. I have been writing on these stories for a few years as the spirit would move me to write. When someone asks me what they are about, or to summarize them, my brain sort of goes into neutral and I really don't know where to start. I generally try to change the subject since I can't summarize in 4000 characters or less what I had for breakfast this morning. If the inquisitive person is persistent I simply offer to let them read the book and then they change the subject. Actually, after meditating upon the "Rubaiyat" of Omar Khayyam and wallowing his quatrains around in my mind for a while, I generally end up writing a little. I think I'm much like Omar; still trying to deduce what this thing we call "life" is all about! My stories touch on things from the simple life of an Appalachian Mountains sharecropper, a dubious country preacher, rape, murder, an arduous and unnecessary flight from justice, snakebites and miraculous healings, the lynching of an innocent black man, and subsistence farm life to, the complicated motives of brainy engineers and chemists attempting to leave their legacy to science by proving knowledge can be transmitted genetically; thereby, proving Carl Jung's theory of the collective unconscious to be valid. John Fee Gibson was born and raised in the Appalachian foothills of Southeastern Kentucky. He moved to Ohio as a young man where he graduated from The Ohio State University. He was employed in the metals removal industry for several years as a tool and die maker, designer, and computer aided drafting and machining engineer. He received his teaching credentials later in life and held teaching positions with the Southern Ohio College, the Community College System of Kentucky, and the Public Schools of Ohio. Mr. Gibson presently resides in Fairfield, Ohio and is retired. keywords: Fiction, Short Stories, Rubaiyat, Omar Khayyam, Carl Jung, Life, Murder, Rape, Preacher, Engineer Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.

Moravec has taken an innovative approach with a fresh look at age-old business lessons by providing insight into and condensing them into bite-sized sessions across 112 pages. Echoes of Success - Timeless Sales Lessons from 1914 - Volume 1 gives emerging sales professionals and seasoned sales leaders a glimpse into the past, while exploring differences in technology, available tools, transportation challenges, and foundational components of: Know, Like, and Trust, and Referral-based sales. 1914 was a crucial year in the United States. We were approaching the 50th anniversary of the end of the Civil War. We were about to embark on a journey to support our allies in Europe as World War I marched on. And yet, it also marked a turn for modern technology and consumerism across the country, where professional salespeople emerged and advertising executives drove demand for products such as refrigerators, sewing machines, and automobiles, by helping us see how these items, and many others, would provide value for an individual or family. Step back in time with David's new approach to professional education for sales leaders and slow the pace of relationship building by putting down electronic devices in exchange for a conversation and personal interaction. Enjoy Echoes of Success, which follows Moravec's business parables, Echoes Across the Tracks (April 2024), and Echoes to Remember (May 2025). Aggiungi al carrelloPaperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. In writing this book, I set out with two main goals: to create an accessible resource for anyone curious about life's big questions, and to satisfy my own quest for answers. While I often find the answers I seek, they frequently lead to more questions-especially on the nature of good and evil. This concept has long intrigued me, and for many, it's a central question about God. Over the past forty years, I've explored these questions across the globe and contemplating the universe's mysteries. While my conclusions may not resonate with everyone, I hope to guide readers in finding answers that bring them peace. Understanding good and evil can be deeply personal, and I believe there's no single "right" answer-what matters is discovering a perspective that aligns with your beliefs. Various perspectives on good and evil emerge from religion, philosophy, and influential thinkers, each offering unique insights. Some overlap, while others diverge significantly. I invite you to consider questions like: What defines good and evil for you? Are they universal or culturally specific? Is there a moral foundation, and, if so, whose morals are they? These reflections can encourage deeper exploration and build empathy. As you read, I hope this book serves not just as information but as a tool for growth. You'll find a thoughtfully curated bibliography at the end to deepen your understanding. May you enjoy the journey, finding both wisdom and perhaps a few surprises along the way. D. G. Reagle D. G. Aggiungi al carrelloPaperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. I first began to write in 1971. It took me many years just to clarify my ideas. I published my first writings in 1985. I have been writing since, always trying to get to that perfect balance point within myself. Now, here I am, 2020. Here is the book, the completion. How do I know? Because that is what has been given me. But this writing is not just for me. It is for 'You' as well. We are in a crisis. Our center point is off center. Most don't want to hear. Who will right this? I write alone. Will 'You' hear my call? Much of this writing is composed of quotes from other authors and from my own earlier writings. The quotes themselves pretty much tell the story of what I want to convey. If the quote is from an author other than myself, I list that author. If it is from one of my own writings, I do not list the author, just the title. Any writing quoted that does not have an author listed, you may assume the author is me. I use of the terms 'You' and 'I' quite often. I am using these terms in a general sense. I do not mean you and me specifically. Think of the idea "I Am." And now let us add to it "You Are." 'I' exist and 'You' exist, primordially. This is a conjunctive universe. That is my meaning. This most likely will be my last writing. I feel the completion within myself. In any event, it certainly is my clearest statement to date. Perhaps it is time for this paradigm shift I call Man and Woman Balance to go out to the world Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.

Aggiungi al carrelloPaperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. A series of short stories describing childhood experiences in segregated Little Rock, Arkansas during the 1940's & 50's. Lois Watkins was born in Little Rock, Arkansas during the era of segregation. After attending segregated public schools for six years, she moved with her family to Los Angeles in the summer of 1957, just before the desegregation of the formerly all-white Central High School. She knew several of the members of the Little Rock Nine, brave students who challenged the segregated education system. Lois has had a very eclectic career. She served as an education specialist for over 500 colleges and universities for the U.S. Department of Education, Region IX, in San Francisco. She was the preview manager and supervisor of subsidiary offices for the third-largest-in-the-world fine arts and antiques auction house, Butterfield and Butterfield. She also served as program manager for the CDC-funded program REACH (Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health) at the Seattle and King County Public Health Division. But her most rewarding experience has been as a substitute teacher for the Seattle Public School District. She had spent seventeen years trying to write the great American novel when students, upon learning that she lived during segregation, inundated her with questions, asking "What was it like?" She realized that while there are many books describing Civil Rights heroes and events, something was missing: a description of day-to-day events of life during segregation. That's what she's written: a book that answers those questions her students asked. Aggiungi al carrelloPaperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. What do you do when your career aspiration is snatched away just as it's about to be fulfilled? What happens when the dream you've pursued since childhood crashes and burns, leaving you broke at age 30? You better have a damn good Plan B in place. Jack Oujo spent eight years in the minor leagues pursuing the dream of becoming a major league umpire. This book takes you on his journey, from the decision to become an umpire, through the endless and often cramped travels, low pay, and interactions with players, managers and supervisory personnel, to his abrupt and callous release-by mail, no less. What does someone do when their career vision becomes a nightmare? For Jack, this was no time for despondency. He was 30 years old, broke, and married with his first child on the way. He surmounted his disappointment and reinvented himself through a process of reeducation, mentorship, then starting a business on a bootstrap and ultimately growing it into a multi-million-dollar operation a decade later. Jack Oujo CPA/PFS, CFP(R), MS, is the founder of Oujo Wealth Strategies, one of the nation's largest tax-focused wealth management firms. Jack's journey to the top of his profession began, surprisingly enough, with an eight-year stint as a professional baseball umpire. He enjoyed numerous promotions, ultimately reaching the AAA level and winning the Joe Ryan Award as the highest-rated umpiring prospect in the minor leagues in 1985. Choosing umpires is subjective, however, and Jack was denied his ambition of becoming a major league umpire. Undeterred, Jack used the setback as motivation for a successful business career. He had nurtured a Plan B while umpiring by working as an accountant in New York during the offseasons. This helped him make a seamless transition into the financial services industry, where he earned the Avantax Top Producer Award for 25 consecutive years and has been the brokerage's leading advisor for the majority of the past decade. Jack attended Old Bridge High School and was inducted into their Wall of Fame in 2013. He graduated from Middlesex County College with an associate degree in accounting, Seton Hall University with a bachelor's degree in accounting, and he went on to earn a master's degree in taxation from Fairleigh Dickinson University. His community service includes running a free youth umpire clinic every February for the last twenty years. Jack was also president of the NJ/NY Chapter of the College Baseball Umpires Association (CBUA) and the freshman baseball coach at St. Rose High School in Belmar, NJ, for several years. Jack maintained a connection to baseball, playing in the United States Over 30 Baseball League and Men's Senior Baseball League (MSBL) for 19 years, playing in multiple all-star games. After retiring from baseball, Jack acquired an addiction to golf and is an active member of the Coral Ridge Country Club in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and the Spring Lake Golf Club in Spring Lake, New Jersey. Aggiungi al carrelloPaperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. 'What Is Jiu Jitsu? The Martial Arts And How To Understand Them' is a book that considers first and foremost the Japanese feudal discipline of Jiu Jitsu, its life and lineage. From linguistics to its relationships with the martial arts of its immediate family, the offspring of that family and their characteristics are all regarded. The forces that shaped these martial arts are identified in an attempt to create a perspective of the parent discipline itself and the distance it has traveled to reach its present state. It is placed in historical context and considered for its role in the life of the Samurai, the eras that changed it, until finally its role today in the wider world. In close conjunction with the exploration of Jiu Jitsu and its survival of the turbulent eras from which it came is also the consideration of other martial practices from other parts of the globe that also survived, as well as those that didn't. The almost inseparable relationship of martial arts and martial sports is assessed, the personages that defined different disciplines and were responsible for some of the later milestones on the martial science landscape. Even the prospective student is provided a few road signs to watch for on the path to study. In the later parts of the work the underlying theory of function for a martial art is simplified to create some small illumination for the processes that govern the operation of the martial sciences. And finally the factors outside the training hall's indoctrination and preparation are given form and name, from anatomical limitations to artificial enhancements and the impact they all have on the performance of a martial art. Comparative techniques are illustrated in black and white within the book to better serve the goal of contrasting one style of Jiu Jitsu to another, and to provide the reader an idea of what the different martial arts related to Jiu Jitsu look like, and more importantly how their apt to behave. Various diagrams and maps throughout the book help to facilitate the aim of the work, which is to create an insight into Jiu Jitsu and what it is. D.S. Hopkins has been a practicing martial artist for over twenty years, holding the rank of Shodan, and focusing on Jujutsu primarily, but not exclusively. An aspiring writer of varying genres, a supporter of all that promotes deeper learning, he spends time reading history. He currently works in the Canadian Energy Sector. It's about making them fit in and feel like they belong in the world. It offers hope and inspiration. This is my story. I will walk you through the journey I have taken raising my thirteen-year-old son, Bobby. It's a journey many have taken, but few have chosen. He was born with a club foot, mild cerebral palsy, and has developed other delays and disabilities. If you met Bobby, you might not even realize he's disabled, at first. If you spent a few minutes with him, you would realize he was a little slow or delayed. It's as if he is a ten- or eleven-year-old, in a thirteen-year-old's body. His brain is always a couple of years behind his body. Bobby is also very tall for his age, so he appears even older than he is, which only makes it harder. I have raised three typical children. They are now young adults and are well on their way to independence. They rely on me mostly for financial help or occasional guidance. Eventually, they will be on their own and live their lives as they choose. I fear Bobby will never be able to live on his own. I worry about his fate after my husband and I are gone. What will become of him? Friends and family, including his older brothers, assure me they will care for him, but I don't think any of them realize the enormous responsibility he is. Mary Beth Czubay lives on long Island with her husband, Steve, and their children. After twenty-five years in the professional workplace, she was forced to put her career on hold to focus on her own health problems, and those of her son, Bobby. As a breast cancer survivor, and the mother of a child with special needs, she prides herself on turning negatives into positives. Easy Out On Third is her first book. Her hope is that her story will help and inspire people with similar challenges and change the way the world looks at people with special needs. keywords: Special Needs, Children, Disabilities, Inspirational, Cerebral Palsy, Uplifting, Humorous, Honest, Eye Opening, Heartwarming, Comforting, Captivating Shipping may be from our UK warehouse or from our Australian or US warehouses, depending on stock availability.

STAY BACK is an urban coming of age novel (1915 -1922) concerning Black-on-Black racism (a legacy from slavery), frustrated romance and Marcus Garvey. The first time Aaron sees Elizabeth, she instantly becomes the love of his life. But her family, determined to keep young Elizabeth away from him, firmly shut their door against him. Fourteen-year-old Aaron is too naive to realize the reason is that Elizabeth and her family are light-skinned and he is not, until one day Elizabeth's brother and a group of his light-skinned friends gleefully jeer him with the chant: "If you're white, you're alright, If you're brown, stick around, If you're black, stay back!" Stung, he soon realizes that this is his first step into the real world where black-on-black racism, based on skin color alone, will mirror every word of the jeering chant. Aaron vows he will never "stay back" merely because of the color of his skin. As he matures, and despite Elizabeth's family's "No," - there is a part of "No" that he will never understand as he continues to pursue her. But during his efforts to establish his personhood and worth in the face of white and black racism, Elizabeth gives herself to a white man. Crushed and dispirited, Aaron finally resolves to leave college and join the charismatic Marcus Garvey's controversial Back-to-Africa Movement. - To a place of hope and promise where Black is still Beautiful. A Ph.D.'s Reverie presents a series of imagined vignettes from the true story of Francis "Frank" Gevrier Guittard, a game young scholar of limited means who, encouraged by his parents to leave home for Texas during hard times, struggled to achieve his life's central goal of a college education. Then in later life labored to earn a Ph.D. while separated from wife and children. The reverie passes through a number of his feelings including homesickness and isolation, fear and anxiety, as well as destiny, adventure, excitement and challenge, and then finally through an unresolved sense of regret and loss, all of which ultimately dissolve into elation and satisfaction coming from high achievement and the expectation of going home to family. Nicely written and the illustrations are amazing. John S. Wilson, Interim Dean of University Libraries, Baylor University How beautiful! I love all the rich detail evocative of the time period. Andrea Turpin, Professor of History, Baylor University Compelling. T. Michael Parrish, Linden G. Bowers Professor of American History, Baylor University, author of Brothers in Gray and other volumes I have no idea how you were able to capture all of the history, intrigue and emotion in this poem-that normally would take a novel! Rose Youngblood, Assistant Vice President for Development and University Initiatives, University of Texas at Arlington It was haunting at times.I felt the struggles and pain [Frank] must have felt. Thomas DeShong, Guittard History Fellow, Project Archivist, Baylor University Quite a story. Fred Landry, Vice President of Development, Centenary College of Louisiana [The theme of the poem I like the best]: the risk that the young man takes to leave home and start over; the sense of homesickness that he must leave for an indefinite amount of time, perhaps not to return before those he loves are lost and with that the isolation and lack of communication available to him at the time. Mr. Gibson presently resides in Fairfield, Ohio and is retired. keywords: Fiction, Short Stories, Rubaiyat, Omar Khayyam, Carl Jung, Life, Murder, Rape, Preacher, Engineer Shipping may be from our UK warehouse or from our Australian or US warehouses, depending on stock availability.
