Hardcover. Condizione: Good. Eloise Wilkin (illustratore). Reprint. A scarce Golden Press book, even in subsequent printings. It was first published in 1958, and this is a seventh printing from 1976. The illustrations are certainly more 1950s than they are 1970s. I particularly like the expression on Little Miss Muffet's face: instead of looking frightened, she looks bored and resigned, as if she's saying to the spider "Oh, it's you again. Can't you just leave me alone to enjoy my curds and whey". Internally, this copy is very good indeed - no markings and looking clean and fresh. There's just a small inscription along top of front pastedown. But the front cover is a bit of a mess. There are worn bits, down to the board, at the top where tape has been ripped off taking with it the printed laminate. The bottom has creased laminate and bits of tape stuck to it. Without this damage to the front board, it would be a decent copy.

This picture book (Golden Book #10450) is, of course, based on the 1942 Walt Disney film, which was based on the 1928 English translation (by Whittaker Chambers) of the 1923 Austrian novel, "Bambi, A Life in the Woods" by Felix Salten. First published in 1949, this is a twenty-fifth printing. Apart from a light inscription on top of the front pastedown, this copy is pretty good internally. There are half a dozen pages with well repaired tears to the bottom edges, but clean and tight otherwise. The boards are rubbed and worn at corners and spine ends, and - for some unknown reason - there are bits of clear tape stuck to the top edge of the front cover.

An early original story about Bozo the Clown, published just after the children's television show, "Bozo's Circus", started airing in Chicago. The boards are rubbed and a little grubby with a slight bump to bottom corner. Internally excellent apart from a very small piece torn from corner of last page. A very good copy of this first printing with the "A" on final page. Originally published with the price of 25c, this copy has a publisher's sticker amending the price to 29c. Little Golden Book number 446.
