Softcover. Condizione: Very Good+. First Edition. [light external wear, faint uneven fading to covers, old bookseller's rubber stamp at bottom of title page (Larry Edmunds Cinema Bookshop)]. Trade PB (B&W photographs) INSCRIBED generically and SIGNED by the author at the upper right corner of the title page. Primarily a history of the Culver City, California, studio facility originally built by pioneer producer Thomas H. Ince in 1918/1919, but subsequently occupied (after Ince's death in 1925) by other producers and entities: first RKO Radio Pictures, then David O. Selznick (who employed its facade as the visual representation of his Selznick International Pictures), followed by RKO again, and then Desilu, after which it became an independent facility, rented by many different film companies, major and minor both. Parts of both GONE WITH THE WIND and CITIZEN KANE were shot at the studio (there is a chapter here devoted to each). The studio still operates today, with its facade largely unchanged but otherwise with much alteration (and the destruction of some of its more historical elements) in recent years. Softcover. Condizione: Very Good. No Dust Jacket. First Edition. [moderate overall wear]. The book is described as "a stream-of-unconsciousness satirical view of our country's most unloved bureaucracy," with a protagonist who is "a sort of pathetic Americanized Cloisseau [I think they mean "Clouseau," as in Inspector] [who] stumbles in and out of one moronic misadventure after another." (Someday somebody should do a bibliography of self-published angry-man rage-against-the-system novels, of which this is a primo example.).…

Scarce book by a black author about a black soldier during the Korean war who was raised in a white family and endures racial hostility from both blacks and whites. The book has sound hinges and does not lean. There is light foxing to the first few pages and last few pages as well as the outer page edges. Otherwise, pages are clean without marks, creases, wrinkles or tears. Exterior covers and spine are spotless. Cover corners are not bumped. There is light rub wear to the bottom edges of the spine, bottom cover corner tips. The book's original dust jacket is not price-clipped. It is lightly soiled, fairly heavily foxed, and has a few tiny holes. Wear to top and bottom edges includes some small chips and tears. We have put the jacket in a clear archival sleeve to keep it looking good. (Note: Photos may show a flash reflection.) PayPal always welcome.
