Chapter 4 will focus on the current situation of M&A activity and foreign direct investment (FDI) in China. FDI is another method for entering a market and is a competing tool to M&A. It will also present some examples of M&A where Chinese companies were involved. Chapter 5 deals with the importance of the stock market for M&A activity. After that, the most important aspects of M&A activities in the Chinese financial industry will be shown. First, an overview of the banking industry in China will be presented and the problems will be shown. Darauf folgend entwerfen wir eine eigene Definition des Spiels mit den für uns wichtigen und relevanten Aspekten. Dabei werden wir teilweise auf die Theorieansätze des ersten Abschnitts eingehen. Diese wird von einem Einschlafdrang begleitet, dem Betroffene sich de facto nicht widersetzen können. Dies und die Existenz einer Reihe von Begleitsymptomen bedeutet eine enorme Belastung, da auf diese Weise ein normaler Alltag, wie ihn Gesunde führen, kaum möglich ist. Bestimmend für den Tagesablauf von Narkoleptikern sind ihre Krankheit und das mit ihr einhergehende abnorme Schlafverhalten. Mich interessieren die Hintergründe der Narkolepsie, wie sie sich genau äußert, warum sie sich herausbildet und was dagegen getan werden kann. Ich möchte in der Arbeit aufzeigen, wie genau sich die Krankheit symptomatisch äußert und inwiefern sich diese Symptome negativ auf das Leben der Patienten auswirken können. Dabei werde ich exemplarisch auf Susanne Schäfer Bezug nehmen, welche selbst von Narkolepsie betroffen ist und eine lange Leidensgeschichte vorweisen kann, vor allem, bevor die Krankheit bei ihr diagnostiziert wurde. Dabei wird mir ihr Erfahrungsbericht 'Die 'Schlafkrankheit' Narkolepsie - Ein Erfahrungsbericht über Lachschlag, Schrecklähmung und Pennen in Pappkartons' (1998) als Grundlage dienen. Da dieses Buch in Romanform und mit nur schwacher Untergliederung verfasst ist, erfolgt jeweils ein Verweis auf die entsprechende Seitenzahl, so dass Interessierte das Beschriebene leicht selbst noch einmal nachlesen können. Die genannte Verzögerung der Diagnose, welche bei Susanne Schäfer vonstatten ging, ist leider bei einer enorm großen Anzahl von Betroffenen der Fall. Somit müssen Patienten oft viele Jahre lang unbehandelt mit ihrer Krankheit umgehen. Welche Verfahren nötig sind, eine Narkolepsie relativ zuverlässig diagnostizieren zu können, möchte ich im Mittelteil der Arbeit beschreiben. Im Folgenden soll der Frage nachgegangen werden, wie es zur Ausprägung einer Narkolepsie kommt und wie sich die Krankheit epidemiologisch in der Bevölkerung verteilt. Zu guter Letzt möchte ich darauf zu sprechen kommen, wie sich das Leben von Narkoleptikern mittels therapeutischer Maßnahmen in Richtung eines strukturierten Alltags lenken lässt. 40 pp. Deutsch.

Seit Kriegsende führten immer mehr Länder nationale Gedenktage an die Opfer des Nationalsozialismus ein. Auch internationale Organisationen wie der Europarat und die Vereinten Nationen gedenken am 27. Januar gemeinsam mit den Nationalstaaten an die Opfer des Genozides und fordern damit auch zum Kampf gegen Rassismus auf. Die Auseinandersetzung mit dem Holocaust und dem Grauen des zweiten Weltkriegs ist mittlerweile zu einem Grundpfeiler des europäischen Selbstverständnisses geworden, welcher auf der Grundlage der Vergangenheit zur Toleranz, internationaler Verständigung und Einhaltung der Menschenrechte aufruft.Doch wie setzt sich die deutsche Gesellschaft, von innen betrachtet, mit ihrer Vergangenheit auseinander Besteht noch Interesse daran sich damit zu beschäftigen und mehr über den Holocaust zu erfahren Wie steht es um die Schuldfrage und die Verantwortung der heutigen Generation - Da ich diese Fragestellungen an sich, sowie auch Diskussionen über diese im Seminar etwas vermisst habe, jedoch der Meinung bin, dass sie sehr wichtig sind, werde ich mich nun in dieser wissenschaftlichen Abhandlung damit beschäftigen.Um diese Fragen beantworten zu können, habe ich den Umgang mit der Shoa (auch Holocaust genannt; Hebräisch: große Katastrophe, Zerstörung - bezeichnet den Massenmord an den europäischen Juden durch das nationalsozialistische Deutschland) in drei Kategorien - Verarbeiten, Verharmlosen und Verleugnen - eingeteilt, für welche ich jeweils drei Beispiele aus der Gesellschaft vorstellen und diskutieren werde. Dabei wird mir ihr Erfahrungsbericht 'Die 'Schlafkrankheit' Narkolepsie - Ein Erfahrungsbericht über Lachschlag, Schrecklähmung und Pennen in Pappkartons' (1998) als Grundlage dienen. Da dieses Buch in Romanform und mit nur schwacher Untergliederung verfasst ist, erfolgt jeweils ein Verweis auf die entsprechende Seitenzahl, so dass Interessierte das Beschriebene leicht selbst noch einmal nachlesen können. Die genannte Verzögerung der Diagnose, welche bei Susanne Schäfer vonstatten ging, ist leider bei einer enorm großen Anzahl von Betroffenen der Fall. Somit müssen Patienten oft viele Jahre lang unbehandelt mit ihrer Krankheit umgehen. Welche Verfahren nötig sind, eine Narkolepsie relativ zuverlässig diagnostizieren zu können, möchte ich im Mittelteil der Arbeit beschreiben. Im Folgenden soll der Frage nachgegangen werden, wie es zur Ausprägung einer Narkolepsie kommt und wie sich die Krankheit epidemiologisch in der Bevölkerung verteilt. Zu guter Letzt möchte ich darauf zu sprechen kommen, wie sich das Leben von Narkoleptikern mittels therapeutischer Maßnahmen in Richtung eines strukturierten Alltags lenken lässt. 40 pp. Deutsch.

To kill time during their journey a story-telling contest is created. Each pilgrim has to tell a story and the winner of the best story will get a free supper. The Canterbury Tales are structured as a frame narrative. The General Prologue mainly builds the frame where all the characters are introduced and the story-telling competition was invented. Its structure is very simple. After an introduction in lines 1-34, the narrator begins the series of portraits (lines 35-719). Afterwards the Host suggests the tale-telling contest which is then accepted by the pilgrims (lines 720-821). In the following the pilgrims gather and decide that the Knight should tell the first story.The frame in which the story is embedded has a long tradition. Boccaccio's 'Decamerone' was for example written in this style and Chaucer read it when visiting Italy.Originally Chaucer wanted each of the pilgrims to tell two stories on the way to Canterbury and two on the way back. This would have led to 120 single stories, but he never finished this enormous work. In fact there are only 23 tales, some of which are even incomplete.

Although most evidence for this claim has been found in analyses of the English language, Chinese emotions seem to be conceptualised to a large degree in the same way as in English. Previous studies on the concepts of ANGER and HAPPINESS come to the conclusion that English and Chinese only vary in minor aspects, due to cultural differences. But how about the more peripheral type of emotions Do these show the same metaphorical preferences Or are they even more culture-specific In this paper I will show the different metaphorical realization of RESPECT in English and Chinese and offer some suggestions as to why these differences occur. For this analysis I have considered a set of about 140 sentences and idioms in English and Chinese. After considering these sample sentences, it will become evident that these two languages most likely follow the same major metaphorical principles. English and Chinese share important concepts such as GOOD IS UP or THE OBJECT OF RESPECT IS A VALUABLE COMMODITY. And this shows in the metaphorized expressions of respect. It seems, though, that Chinese is far more restricted in the use and meaning of these respect metaphors.

People influenced by it regarded crudeness and simplicity as a chanc…e to express themselves, the constraints of conventions that demanded conformity and accuracy left behind. While breaking with those traditions concerning music, life style and attitude was at first the main motivation in the late 1970s, the movement emerged for many people to a force propagating virtues like equality, justice and social responsibility. The mixture of music always forcing attention and the prevalent notion of urgency in the lyrics proved a perfect basis for a countless number of artists to express vigorously protest, feelings ranging from despair to joy or just their personal perception of their environment. Along the history of American poetry the poems showed exactly those features, offering a channel to express oneself. The way poets express themselves just changed. It required centuries and many different stages to develop for example from the puritan style and fixed rhyme pattern of Anne Bradstreet's works to the flowing free verse of Walt Whitman expressing a fervent patriotism, which is again a great contrast to Allen Ginsberg's beat poetry, which features a very critical attitude towards America. Regarding the Native Americans' poetry, which deals in many cases with the balance between humans and their environment or appears in the form of vocables, as an additional facet, these developments illustrate how wide the range of style has already been when comparing it to later forms of poetry, and that always a breaking with conventions, accompanied by enthusiastic adherents on the one hand and sceptics on the other hand, took place. Analyzing a selection of punk rock lyrics by American artists I want to show that they possess features that are typical for classical poetry, whereas the term classical poetry will represent the traditional understanding of poetry, which does not include punk rock lyrics. Intertextual elements as well as formal aspects will be pointed out and compared to similar cases in works of different poets that are supposed to serve as a kind of measuring staff, which will help to show where congruence is present and where it is not.

Within less than… one year since November 9, 1989 the three Baltic states declared their independence from the Soviet Union (S.U.) as did Uzbekistan, Moldova, Ukraine and Belarus. Finally, on October 3, 1990 Germany announced its reunification. At the beginning of 1992, the S.U. ceased to exist. In place of the Soviet empire, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) was established, bringing together eleven of the fifteeni constituent republics of the S.U. Having constituted the dominant republic of the S.U. and being regarded as its successor state, the Russian Federation had suddenly lost its status as a superpower and its role as a competitor, ideological and political, of the United States of America (USA/U.S.). However, and 15 years afer the end of the S.U., this essay will argue, the USA is not in a position to influence Russia's domestic behaviour in a way that is coherent with its liberal foreign policy doctrine. Strategic interests and internal as well as external constraints are the reasons why the U.S. has abandoned many of its foreign policy objectives in regard to Russia. In order to develop this argument, the first part of the paper will shortly outline U.S.-Russia relations since the end of the cold war. Then, the current underpinnings of U.S. policy towards Russia will be analysed. Particularly, the reasons for America's non-engagement approach will be addressed.

The rural dialects lost their importance in relation to the spread of the Standard, but the urban dialects still play an important role - nowadays the same as in the history of the English language, when they emerged during the urbananisation of England.They are language varieties that were built in the big urban regions and among them the best known nowadays is Cockney, which exists beside a large group of other dialects (for example the Scouse in Liverpool or the Geordie in Newcastle-upon-Tyne). By speakers of a more 'educated' accent these dialects were often seen as 'harsh' and 'ugly', but for the speaker of the dialect they are a possibility to express an identification with a certain group of people. Cockney is often seen as the language of London's working class, but actually it is a variant that arised in the East End region and that has its basis there (in general every English urban dialect is a working-class accent of the area it belongs to). Allegedly it goes back to the Middle English word 'coken-ey' (a cock's egg) which was a scournful nickname for a certain group of people (town-dweller). Strictly speaking a Cockney is a person that was born near the bells of the church Saint-Mary-le-Bow in the City of London, traditionally a Cockney is an inhabitant of London's East End, but it can also be heard throughout the city.

In both books New York as the world centre of capitalism serves as a stage for two main characters who are shapen by the enormous amounts of money they have at their disposal. The characters and their interaction with society are the central points in both books. While Don De Lillo's Cosmopolis deals at a time no clearly defined, which is probably supposed to be the post modern world of the early 2000s, Bret Easton Ellis' book is set in the booming New York of the 80s where people who work on Wall Street are treated like pop stars and many of them well known as heroes of capitalism (e.g. Warren Buffet and Donald Trump). The book by Bret Easton Ellis takes us into this decadent cocain addicted world, that basically revolves the hunger for parties and sex. The book by Don De Lillo presents a totally different atmosphere. The atmosphere is rather shapen by fear of those that have come too short in the capitalist world and the security needs of those who work on wall street who have by now become anonymous figures, that may only be identified by their stretch limousines. The world of Cosmopolis has become darker and more dangerous; wild parties are no longer celebrated, just as get togethers of business people don't seem to happen in public, mainly for security reasons. The pace of the world has also changed as computers and video transmit news from all over the world into cars that have become indistinguishable from offices. Yet both books have a lot in common in terms of the topics they deal with and the kinds of characters they portrait. While Cosmopolis only draws a kind of gloomy atmosphere, American Psycho is also one of the funniest books I have ever read and has been turned into a fantastic movie, with which I have compared some of the scenes.

Polish plumbers and Czech pavers, taking over the jobs of the EU-15 citizens, became symbols of the fear that was spreading in some EU-15 countries.This essay will focus on two aspects: Firstly, it will examine whether the estimated migration scenarios prior to enlargement have been able to picture the current migration flows correctly. In a second step, the short- and medium-term impacts of EU-10 migration on the economies of the UK and Germany will be assessed. Whereas the former decided to allow migrant workers access to its labour market from the very beginning, the latter had chosen to restrict the free movement of workers and is currently considering extending these restrictions until 2009. It will be argued that the fears concerning negative economic effects in the UK were irrational - at least concerning the short-term impact. In regard to the German case, it will be argued that extending the restrictions until 2009 will have only a limitedly harmful effect on the economy.

Sie haben keinen eigenen Finanzhaushalt und dürfen erst ab 1989 eine eigene Führungsriege wählen.Die Frauen erkämpften sich allerdings im Laufe der Zeit eine nicht niedergeschriebene Unabhängigkeit, so daß man heute von einer Frauenorganisation und nicht von einem Frauenreferat spricht.Der Frauenanteil in der SPÖ lag immer bei ca. 30%. Diese Frauen engagierten sich größtenteils im Frauenreferat und kämpften dort für die Rechte der Frauen in Österreich.Die Rolle der Frau wurde bereits im ersten Parteiprogramm von 1947 besprochen. Damals wurde der Schwerpunkt aber auf die Frau als Mutter und die Familie gelegt.Ich gehe auf die Geschichte der Frauenbewegung in Österreich ein, um die Ereignisse der letzten 20 Jahre in einen geschichtlichen Kontext bringen zu können und gehe ich darauf ein, welche beständigen Veränderungen die Frauen bewirkt haben und was noch zu verändern ist.

On October the 5th the Council adopted a definitive anti dumping duty on imports into the EU of special leather footwear from China and Vietnam starting October the 7th. This measure will be installed for two years. The regulation is aimed at protecting the EU footwear market by imposing duties of 16,5% and 10% on leather footwear imports from China and Vietnam, respectively1. Before the installing of the measures the Commission initiated investigations in July 2005. In April provisional anti dumping duties had been adopted.The following paper will tackle the topic of the anti-dumping measures adopted by the European Commission. First, I will go over the definition of dumping. After this, I will explain the role of the WTO in cases of dumping. In the next chapter I will talk about dumping cases in the EU from China in general. The next part deals with the case of anti dumping, concerning special leather shoes from China and Vietnam. Different voices from Europe and China will be covered, including the discussion of the impacts of the adopted measures.
