At least this is what Peter Bürger states in his groundbreaking book Theory of the Avant-garde. In the book Bürger gives some examples that shall acknowledge and prove his theory, e.g. René Magritte or Marcel Duchamp. It is clear that such examples need to stay eclectic in order to fit the developed theory. In the following Bürger's text will be put to the acid test by analysing some avant-garde works through the eyes of Peter Bürger, and it shall be examined if specific, programmatic avant-gardist works go well with his theory. The manifestos by the (first) Dadaists in Zürich seem to be extremely useful for this attempt. Their 'productions' haven't been canonised yet and have served as an example for further Dadaistic productions in Germany, the USA, the Netherlands, Romania, Georgia, Poland etc. They (excessively) produced manifestos and declared their ideals and plans. However, these declarations always remain a bit opaque as they avoid clear statements and explicitly write absurd. In their works the Dadas often make statements and shortly afterwards reject them again. Tristan Tzara's manifestos are great examples of this kind of text, therefore this paper focuses on his writings but will consider manifestos by Walter Serner, thoughts by Marcel Janco or Hugo Ball as well. Can Theory of the Avant-garde be a key to excerpt meaning from the Dadaistic text production, or do the manifestos go beyond Bürger's theory, or even prove him wrong 20 pp. Englisch.

Da in der Meisterschule bestimmte Themenbereiche des Rahmenlehrplans bearbeitet werden müssen, werden in dieser Arbeit überwiegend die Lern- und Arbeitsaufgaben, die auf der Projektmethode basieren, vorgestellt und angewendet. Lern- und Arbeitsaufgaben bieten die Möglichkeit, in der betrieblichen Aus- und Weiterbildung sowohl die Praxis als auch die Theorie miteinander zu verknüpfen. Allgemein beinhalten sie eine konkrete Aufgabenstellung, die anhand von abgestimmten Informations- und Arbeitsblättern bearbeitet werden. Weiter ist es erforderlich, dass die Aufgaben Lernpotenziale enthalten, die einen Handlungsspielraum zulassen und ganzheitliche Problematiken vermitteln. Mit der steigenden Nutzung fossiler Treibstoffe nehmen auch die weltweiten CO2-Emissionen zu. Angesichts des voranschreitenden Klimawandels und der Ressourcenknappheit ist ein strategisches Umdenken in der Energienutzung dringend erforderlich. Die Dringlichkeit des Klimaschutzes wurde 2007 mit dem vierten Sachstandsbericht des Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change wissenschaftlich bestätigt. Zudem belegt der ehemalige Weltbank-Ökonom Sir Nicholas STERN in einem 2006 vorgelegten Bericht, dass die Kosten, die durch eine Anpassung an klimabedingte Veränderungen entstehen, 5 bis 20-mal so hoch liegen werden, wie aktiver Klimaschutz. Hebräisch, das Experiment von Jakob den IV. zeigt. Heute sind sich die meisten Wissenschaftler und Linguisten jedoch einig, dass ein Kind ohne Kenntnis einer bestimmten Sprache geboren wird.3 Die Sprache kann sich nur entwickeln, wenn ein Kind mit Erwachsenen, die eine Laut- oder Gebärdensprache äußern, über mehrere Jahre interagiert.4 Was jedoch genau in der Phase des Spracherwerbs geschieht, ist noch Gegenstand heftiger Diskussionen. Es stellt sich die Frage, ob es bestimmte Voraussetzungen für den Spracherwerb im frühen Kindesalter gibt. Noam Chomsky beispielsweise geht davon aus, dass Sprache unabhängig von allen anderen kognitiven Fähigkeiten und Lernprozessen erworben werden muss, da die Regeln der Sprache so komplex sind, dass es für ein Kleinkind unmöglich scheint, sie einfach nur durch Nachahmung und Beobachtungen zu erlernen. Vielmehr müsse es eine Universalgrammatik geben, die im Gehirn kodiert ist.5 Aber reicht das Vorhandensein einer Universalgrammatik aus, um Sprache zu erlernen oder gibt es noch andere wichtige Voraussetzungen Wann beginnt überhaupt Sprachentwicklung, wie verläuft sie und welchen Wandel vollzieht sie im Laufe der ersten Jahre 6 Es wird bei diesen Fragestellungen wichtig sein zu erörtern, welche Probleme beim Spracherwerb auftreten können und warum das Experiment von Jakob den IV. zwangsläufig scheitern musste, ganz abgesehen von den sozialen und psychologischen Aspekten. Diese Hausarbeit wird sich dabei weniger darauf konzentrieren, wie sich der Spracherwerb eines Kindes in der Semantik, Syntax oder Phonologie entwickelt, sondern es soll vielmehr untersucht werden, wie der Biolinguist Eric Lenneberg, verglichen mit Ansichten anderer Wissenschaftler, mit den Themen Spracherwerb, Entwicklung und auftretenden Komplikationen umgeht. Dabei kann jedoch jeweils nur ein Abriss einzelner wissenschaftlicher Ausarbeitungen gegeben werden, da weit mehr als ein paar hundert Bücher über dieses Thema geschrieben worden sind.

The brutal and cold fact is: Hugo Baumgartner will not be missed The young Hugo Baumgartner is referred to by his first name. His mother and father call him 'Hugo' or give him pet names ('you booby' (25); 'Hugo, Liebling' (29)) and even the heterodiegetic narrator joins in this very familiar, caring and friendly form of address. Later on only Lotte will continue calling him 'Hugo' ('Ach, du lieber Gott, Hugo' (68)) since she is the only one of his acquaintances in life who is present continuously, except for the time he is interned. In Western European scholarship concepts from imperial history and post-colonial studies have had a big influence on the historiography of Russia and the Soviet Union. However, these are recent phenomena: in most histories of Russia, written in Russia or the Soviet Union itself as well as in the West before 1991, empire has been left out to an astonishing degree. Only for the Soviet Union the so-called 'nationality question' was a larger topic, appearing in Soviet praise for the 'friendship of the peoples' or condemnation of 'anti-Soviet nationalism' and 'Great-Russian chauvinism'. This essay picks up on some of these issues and looks at how various scholars interested in the imperial aspects of Russian history have put them into a comparative perspective. Although the number of works is still limited, especially compared to the huge number of studies on different Western European empires, it is possible to draw some general conclusions. Regarding Duisburg's industrial history I concentrated on books that could easily be found in the municipal library of Duisburg.The topic was chosen due to the fact that I noticed more and more recreational areas emerging on former industrial ground in my immediate surroundings. This is the reason why I got interested in these projects. I wanted to know why and how they were built in a more detailed way than I already knew from newspapers and other media.The essay is basically divided into three parts. First there is this introduction to introduce in my ways of working on the topic. In the second part there will be an overview on the industrial development in Duisburg to make the need of transforming industrial areas better understandable. After that the aims and ways of the transformation from industry to recreation will be presented using the examples of the future designing program 'IBA Emscher Park'. Thereafter, in the third part, information on the two projects from this essay's title in Duisburg will be given in a more detailed way.In the case of Heinrich-Hildebrand-Höhe I also put the emphasis on the history of the area and ground due to the importance concerning the contemporary use. Regarding RheinPark I did not concentrate on that aspect because it does not affect today's use in a considerable way.Finally there will be a conclusion on the topic highlighting advantages and disadvantages for the place of location Duisburg and for Duisburg's inhabitants. 28 pp. Englisch.

Since the 1770s there has been the formation of an abolitionist movement because rational thinkers of the Enlightenment criticized it for violating the rights of man and furthermore for being heresy.In 1790 the first abolition bill was presented to parliament, but it did not pass and it needed another 43 years until the abolition of slavery in the British Territories could be called a success. Especially women started to engage themselves in the abolitionist movement and tried to change the situation with means of sensibility and empathy. Therefore, I chose to analyze two poems by two very popular female anti- slavery writers, Anne Yearsley's A Poem on the Inhumanity of the Slave- Trade (1788) and Hannah More's The Sorrows of Yamba or the Negro Woman's Lamentation (1795) to show the perspective of a woman on slavery.The seminar 'Romantic Women Writers' serves as a basis for this paper. I will start with an outlook on the involvement of the two women in the anti- slavery discourse, show briefly what there lives were like, through what they were shaped and influenced and what their reasons were to act against slav- ery. In the main part I will focus on the two poems and compare them with regards to similarities and differences. Both poems tell a story about a slave and his or her life in captivity. There is on the one hand the story of Yamba in Hannah More's poem and on the other hand the story of Luco in the poem of Ann Yearsley. I chose this as a starting point for my analysis. For that, I will briefly look at the fictional characters Yamba and Luco to find out in how far they either resemble each other or differ from each other. Furthermore, I will analyze how Hannah More and Ann Yearsley use their means of sensibility and empathy and afterwards show the biggest contrasts of the two poems. Finally, I will summarize and evaluate my results in form of a conclusion. 20 pp. Englisch.

Damit wird eine in der Praxi…s immer häufiger anzutreffende Coachingform einer kritischen Reflexion unterzogen. Die Arbeit ist neben Einleitung und Schlussbetrachtung in vier zentrale Kapitel eingeteilt (Kap.2-5). Kapitel zwei gibt einen allgemeinen Überblick über das Coaching als Beratungsform. Dabei wird insbesondere auf die Akzeptanz, Anwendungsfelder, Grenzen und Anforderungen an den Coach näher eingegangen. Kapitel drei analysiert die Rolle des Vorgesetzten-Coachings als Unterform des Coachings näher. Der Schwerpunkt liegt hier auf den Möglichkeiten und Grenzen. Als Kernargumente werden von Mitarbeiterseite die Vertrauensbasis und von Führungsseite eine grundlegende Offenheit gegenüber dem Mitarbeiter für ein erfolgreiches Coachings angeführt. Kapitel vier schließt an mit einer Gegenüberstellung der Begriffe 'Führung' und 'Coaching'. Hier werden Gemeinsamkeiten und Unterschiede der Konzepte herausgearbeitet. Eine Differenzierung wird insbesondere darin gesehen, dass Führung von der Führungskraft und Coaching vom Coachee, d.h. dem Mitarbeiter, ausgeht. Kapitel fünf präsentiert die eigene qualitative Untersuchung auf Basis von sechs Experteninterviews. Aus der Auswertung werden sechs 'Theorien' abgeleitet, die zu einem Bindungsnetzwerk verknüpft werden. Die Arbeit kommt zu dem Ergebnis, dass die Sinnhaftigkeit von Coaching durch den Vorgesetzten von einer Vielzahl von Faktoren abhängt, die im Wesentlichen durch das Verhältnis Führungskraft-Mitarbeiter geprägt sind. Zentral sind z.B. die Persönlichkeit des Vorgesetzten sowie ein entsprechendes Vertrauensverhältnis zwischen Vorgesetzten und Mitarbeiter. Zudem liegt die Arbeit die Überlegung nahe, dass eine Restrukturierung in den Denkmustern von Führungskräften und Mitarbeitern sowie einer Neubewertung der Rollen und Aufgaben wesentliche Erfolgsfaktoren sind. Zu dieser Arbeit gehört ein ausführlicher Materialband mit der Transkription und qualitativen Auswertung der Interviews nach der Grounded Theory Methodologie.

Die in der Arbeit gemachte Differenzierung zwischen Jagdhund, Wachhund, Schoßhund und halterlosem Hund sorgt erstmals für ein ausgewogenes Bild der wirklichen Hunde. Durch die Verbindung mit der Symbolik und dem Wert, der diesen Hunden zugesprochen wird, basierend auf Quellen der Geschichtsschreibung aber auch der fiktiven Literatur, der Rechtsprechung und nicht zuletzt der Kunst, kann weiter gedacht werden.

And, in fact, this is all the audience needs, to know what this movie is going to be about. Open Range is made in the tradition of a classic Western. The cinematography of the opening sequence already establishes that. During these long shots the camera literally dwells in the scenery, showing America's open range, at its best - one could add. The symbolic meaning is conveyed immediately, since the audience recognizes the movie's frontier setting.Since the Western genre has undergone a freefall since the late 1970s not only in public interest, which is shown in box office rates, but also in its critical reception, it is interesting, that director Costner refers back to the Western's grand age in Open Range, even more so if one considers the public, as well as, the critical success of the two most prominent Westerns of the 1990s. Both Clint Eastwood's Unforgiven and Dances With Wolves also by and with Kevin Costner offered a new interpretation of the classic Western, to be honored with an Oscar for best picture in the process. So why does Costner then in Open Range take on the classic model of the Western again The purpose of this paper is to try to give an answer to this question. To do so it is first necessary to investigate in how far Open Range can be considered a classic Western movie and how deviations can be interpreted. Having done so, we will have to read our findings against the political and cultural context of the time of production of Open Range, since movies are cultural products and especially in the case of the Western trigger certain expectations, which in our case address the central idea of American self-understanding, the frontier myth. Background: This article provides an overv…iew of studies in which assessments of specific functional capacity, made by experts on the one hand (objective) and by patients on the other (subjective) were compared in various patient groups. In essence, these data reveal marginal or insignificant associations.Methods: Based on these considerations, a theoretical differential-diagnosis model of objective findings/subjective state of health is presented. By dichotomization of specific functional capacity at these two levels, the model permits the classification of a patient cohort into four sub-groups: Patients with concurrence between subjective and objective assessments are referred to as 'the fortunate' while those with a negative concurrence are termed 'the unfortunate'. In case of discrepancies between these two levels, for instance when patients' subjective assessment was good although their condition was obviously poor, they are considered to be in a so-called 'disease paradox'. Alternatively, patients whose subjective assessment of their condition was poor although the objective findings were positive, were considered to be in a so-called 'health dilemma'.Results: The study in a sample of patients who had received an artificial hip joint for mobility disorders revealed striking differences in health-related quality of life (HrQol). Comparisons of HrQoL data pre- and post-operatively in the whole sample demonstrated an improvement in five of six dimensions (loss of energy, pain, emotional reaction, sleeping problems, and problems in physical mobility, p<0.01) of the Nottingham Health Profile. Specifically, after grouping patients accordingly to the proposed model striking positive changes in HrQoL were registered in patients of the fortunate and disease paradox groups while the improvements in the health dilemma and unfortunate groups were minimal.Conclusion: Timely identification of these patients in the process of rehabilitation would significantly contribute to the achievement of a good health-related quality of life for all patients. 28 pp. Englisch.
