Wraps. Condizione: very good. First? Edition. First? Printing. 116 pages, wraps. Signed by the author. Red Hawk teaches English at the University of Arkansas at Monticello. He has written four books of poetry, and counts among his greatest fans a collection of critics that include Pulitzer Prize winners, National Book Award Winn…ers and a Poet Laureate of the United States. What makes Red Hawk maybe the most unique voice in American poetry? One thing all his critics agree on: spare language, plain, even everyday."until the insight that you didn't see coming hits you and takes your breath away." Red Hawk gives his own rules of thumb for writing: Always tell the truth no matter how bad you think it makes you look. Write what's in your body, what you know. The copyright identifies Red Hawk as Robert Moore. Some poems appeared earlier in other publications. From a review by Elsa-Brita Titchenell posted on-line: "This slender book of verse contains a rare example of true poetry. Too often a string of words appears in print, poorly chosen prose cut into fragments to resemble free verse, but having none of the grace or inspiration to move the reader or to rouse a resonance in his mind. In Red Hawk's poetry there is a magic which evokes deep response and enables the reader to suffer his fellow feeling. The author has a singular skill to transform experience into words and words into experience, as well as the discipline to cease before emotion overwhelms or is exhausted.".

Inscribed on the half-title page by Barry Lerner and Harbans Singh Bedi (Translators/Commentators). The inscription reads For dear Joe with love and af…fection Barry Lerner Harbans Singh Bedi 1-23-02 Decorative front cover. Darshan Singh (19211989), also known as Sant Darshan Singh Ji Maharaj, was the founder and head of Sawan Kirpal Ruhani Mission / Science of Spirituality from 1974 until his death in 1989. The spiritual successor of Kirpal Singh, Singh was also widely recognized as one of India's leading poet-saints, writing in the Urdu language. During his 15-year spiritual ministry, he founded Kirpal Ashram in Delhi, and established over 550 meditation centers in forty countries. He presided over the Sixth Conference of the World Fellowship of Religions (1981), the Asian Conference of Religions and Peace (1981), and the Fifteenth International Human Unity Conference, held in Delhi, India., in 1988. On July 27, 1980, he instituted "Master's Day" to be celebrated on the fourth Sunday of July each year, in which people can sit together to honor the saints and spiritual Masters of their traditions. In addition, he was acclaimed as one of India's greatest poet-saints. His collections of poems, won him four Academy Awards for poetry. His Urdu Pharsi poems are published in five collections viz. Talash-e-Noor, Manzil-e-Noor, Mata-e-Noor, Jada-e-Noor and Mauj-e-Noor. He was awarded by Urdu Academy, Delhi and Urdu Academy, Uttar Pradesh for his books Manzil-e-Noor and Mata-e-Noor. An English translation from Urdu of selected poems from Darshan Singh's magnum opus, Mataa'-e Noor. Winner of prestigious literary awards in India, this fine contemporary mystical poetry also serves as a basis for instruction in the Sant Mat spiritual tradition in India and throughout the world. Hundreds of verses celebrate the torments and ecstasies that the lover of God suffers at the hands of the Divine. Also included are an introduction to the poet's life and an overview of the author's mystical foundations. Love's Last Madness, a translation of 88 poems in the Sufi tradition selected from Darshan Singh's magnum opus Mat '-e N r (Treasure House of Light), sings of the torments and ecstasies the lover of God experiences on the journey to divine realization. Remarkable for masterfully fulfilling his worldly responsibilities while immersing himself in his mystic quest, Darshan Singh (19211989) was a renowned spiritual teacher with tens of thousands of students around the globe. Four-time winner of a prestigious Urdu academy award for poetry in India, he has been acclaimed by critics as one of the greatest mystical poets in the Urdu language. Sant Darshan Singh represents the best in the historic interaction of mysticism with Indo-Persian aesthetics. In the tradition of the greatest Sufi masters and poets, his passionate love takes him to the realm where the divine reality is no longer a distant transcendence. Those who love Rumi and Hafiz will love Darshan Singh, whose sublime spirit shines through these faithful yet poetic translations. Mumtaz Ahmad, late Executive Director of the Iqbal International Institute for Research and Dialogue, Islamabad, and Professor of Political Science, Hampton University. Metaphors convey the vision of the spiritual life in flashes that can be immediately apprehended. This is just what poetry is, and Sant Darshan Singh is a master of that. Translators Lerner and Bedi, through lively, natural expressions and a simple, polished style, have achieved an admirable closeness to the original Urdu verses. Shaligram Shukla, late Professor Emeritus of Linguistics, Georgetown University. These poems are quite literally inspiriting. Precise and surprising metaphors refresh the reader on every page. Any reader who delights in poetry will be delighted by Darshan Singh. The translators' introduction, commentaries, and not.
