Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. Neuware - The contemplative meditations of this first of two volumes are intended for spiritually-minded readers, and most particularly for readers who want to belong to God with all their strength of mind, heart, and soul, but who do not see how such a blessed state could ever be possible for them, given what these readers know about themselves. These meditations will help such souls. The author of these meditations was a spiritual director of priests, religious and lay people in the middle decades of the 20th Century. Although living by choice in relative obscurity, he had a profound effect on the lives of many who came to him for counseling and guidance. Most of these meditations were written in Rome in the 1960-1961 timeframe, at a time of personal spiritual trial and growth. During this period of the author's life, he became a spiritual son of Padre Pio. Before his death on All Saints' Day in 1980, one of the priests under his spiritual direction had the opportunity to read these meditations and ask him if they might be published. His spiritual father agreed to their publication but only posthumously, and on the strict condition that their author be kept anonymous. That priest later imparted the meditations to the individual who, after decades of delay, now publishes them with a prayer that others might benefit from them as much as have he and his spiritual brothers and sisters. The following are among the private revelations that the author of these meditations received while he was in Rome and recorded in his journal.Darkness and silence, the darkness and silence of the tomb, that is what I want from you now. I will take care of everything else. Yes, the corruption of the whole world is in your flesh - that is how you are bringing the world back to Me - by your silence, your silent love of Me in the knowledge of your corruption. This is the way I have given you to glorify Me. There is no other way for you. Will you give yourself to Me this way Do not think that your writing is something gratuitous which you are free either to do or not to do. No, it is not that way. You depend on what you write more than anyone else - because when you write you listen to Me, but when you neglect to write you listen to yourself and you get more and more absorbed in your own thoughts and in conjectures which are the farthest removed from Me.…

Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. Neuware -What do the bizzare etymologies of Jean-Pierre Brisset, made-up languages for literary fiction, The Dialectic of Enlightenment, Latin grammarians, Horace's Epodes, and the Papyrus of Ani have in common Absolutely nothing. Yet, taken together they provide an unusually coherent picture of a hitherto unacknowledged non-tradition of linguistic investigation. At these moments, particularly within the traditions of European writing which can loosely be termed 'avant-garde,' philology goes rogue, hearkening to unearthly imperatives and barely comprehended intimations, and producing results well beyond those generated by more respectable - and supposedly more grounded - philological endeavors. 'Pataphilology: An Irreader seeks to document and analyze such moments of philological speculation, invention, and détournement. In using the term 'pataphilology, Gurd and van Gerven Oei are not proposing a facile analogy with 'pataphysics, where 'pataphilology would be philology's wacky twin, always out for a lark, never doing anything real. This would presuppose an operation (even if parenthetical) on philology analogous to a shift from physics to 'pataphysics, something which Alfred Jarry, to whom this volume owes the latter neologism, appears to contradict in his initial definition: 'Pataphysics [.] is the science of that which is superinduced upon metaphysics, whether within or beyond the latter's limitations, extending as far beyond metaphysics as the latter extends beyond physics.' Any way you cut it, 'pataphysics is a physics that demands - or, better, that relies on - an utmost philological sensitivity to writing, unheard etymologies, unstable translations, incomplete formalizations, and haphazard decryptions. This volume seeks, then, to document how philological practices - no matter how non-standard, disreputable, or academically useless - have played a role in the production of avant-garde literature and knowledge, as well as forgotten, alternative, or fictitious scholarly projects.Ranging from the papyrus of Ani to the future languages of speculative fiction, from the fictional tablets of Armand Schwerner to the Attic Nights of Aulus Gellius, from Horace to Lacan, 'Pataphilology: An Irreader is a cabinet of philological curiosity - and a map of the ever-changing constellations that emerge when human language loses its chains.TABLE OF CONTENTS //The Papyrus Of Ani: Egyptian Book Of The Dead.
