Red morocco spine label in second compartments with gilt-tooled title: Praxis Almæ. Gilt-tooled "3" in third compartment; gilt-tooled decoration in remaining compartments. Blind-tooled decorative border along both joints. Former owner's name on front fixed endpaper: Garret D. Wall. "G.D. Wall" at head of title page. At head of first page of Introduction: "Rd. Stockton's." This is Richard Stockton (1764-1828), the son of Richard Stockton (1730-1781), signer of the Declaration of Independence for New Jersey. Both father and son were lawyers; the Richard Stockton who owned this book was also a state senator and U.S. congressman. The very scarce third volume of Brown's Praxis Almae Curiae Cancellariae. In Fair+ Condition: front board and front free endpaper are detached but present; leather is rubbed and scraped; slight loss of leather at tail of spine; corners heavily rubbed; back joint is cracked but solid; paper is consistently browned but clean and tight.
