A retail centre can provide value by increasing the benefits it provides and/or by minimising the costs consumers face when visiting i…t. Current academic interest is typically focused on just the one side of this equation - the hedonic benefits of shopping. In contrast, the other side of the value equation - convenience - has been largely ignored, presumably because the few studies that have included it found it to be of relatively less importance. Given that we live in an era of convenience, such findings should be treated with a degree of scepticism. This study empirically develops and tests an alternative definition of convenience to that used by previous studies. Armed with this new definition, the study examines the influence of convenience over consumers choice between shopping malls and shopping strips. Convenience is shown to have a significant influence in determing where we choose to shop. 224 pp. Englisch.

Various theories have been extended by the lit…erature and these are broadly classified under the neo-classical theory of merger waves and the behavioural theory of merger waves. Behavioural theories have explained merger waves by taking into account the psychology of stock markets and the occurrence of merger waves during a stock market boom. The industry shock hypothesis (a neo-classical theory) however, argues that merger waves are due to the clustering of industry shocks that affect an industry s operating environment. Along with this shock, the mis-valuation caused by a stock market boom increases asset values, thereby lowering transaction costs and hence increasing capital liquidity in the economy. This capital liquidity factor causes merger waves to cluster even if industry shocks do not. 116 pp. Englisch.

The incidence of poverty was found to be rampant in the study area. Access to finance… was significant in explaining the level of poverty in the sample households. Households who had an access to credit had more probability of getting out of poverty than households who didn t have an access to it. The welfare of households with nearer product markets was better than the welfare of households having distant product markets. Access to rural credit and proximity to product markets matter for the poor and were critical determinants of the welfare status of households in these coffee growing zones. Therefore, provision of rural credit to these households will help them finance investments and to insure against risks and thereby enhances their welfare. Making markets work for the poor is important because the poor rely on formal and informal markets to sell their products. Besides addiction, another possible explanation for the continuation of smoking by adolescents is the belief that it can help control body weight. The study is aimed to determine the prevalence of overweight and smoking; the association between Body Mass Index (BMI) and smoking; the association between self-esteem and smoking; and comparison of self-esteem between overweight and non-overweight among secondary school students in Kelantan. A cross-sectional study was conducted among 1364 randomly selected Form 2 and Form 4 students in 10 co-educational government secondary schools in Kota Bharu. A survey data analysis was applied. The prevalence of overweight and smoking was 12.5% and 6.7% respectively. There was no association between BMI and smoking; no association between self-esteem and smoking; and no difference in self-esteem between overweight and non- overweight adolescents in Kota Bharu. 96 pp. Englisch.

This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -The mineral content-Sodium(Na), Potassium(K), calcium(Ca), Magnesium(Mg) and Phosphorus(P) of seawater, sediment and some species of seaweeds namely Sargassum duplicatum, Turbinaria ornata, Padina boryana, Colpomenia sinuosa, Ulva…reticulata and Ulva fasciata were investigated. These were the major variety of seaweeds available in the coastal lagoons of Mauritius.The selected sites were Poste Lafayette, Pointe d Esny, La Cuvette and Pointe aux Sables. Different analytical methods were used in this study.Na, K and Ca were analysed by Flame photometry, Mg was analysed by Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry and P was analysed by Spectrophotometry.In addition, chlorophyll a content of Ulva species was investigated by Spectrophotometry. It was found that the macromineral profiles were dominated by Ca, Mg K, and Na. The trend in mineral profile of seaweeds followed the sequence Ca Mg KNa. Poste Lafayette was considered as a control site and it was found to have the highest overall mineral concentration(54.109 g/Kg) in seaweeds. Amongst the mineral studied, it was found that calcium was dominant in nearly all the seaweeds studied. This was because most of them were calcareous species. 120 pp. Englisch.

In Part I The Rank-One Problem we consider the class of systems with restriction that the structure of uncertainty is lim…ited to a vector. We extend the class of the allowed systems. The main result is the canonical parametrization of all destabilizing uncertainties. We also present a method of obtaining the suboptimal controller of lower order that provides the stability margin as close to the optimal one as we wish. We propose a numerical algorithm for the optimal robust control synthesis. In the special case, when the uncertainty parameter is real-valued, we show that the initial problem can be considered as finite-dimensional in the space of variables (semi-infinite convex programming). It seems that the textile images cannot be processed with manually. It is required tha…t textile images are categorized as suitable classes to profit from these images. In this book, it is explained how huge textile images are classified into striped, plaided and speckled image classes. Striped images are also categorized into the classes of horizontal, vertical, 45 and 135 degree lines. Line and circle features have been used for the classification methods. To detect line and circle features of the images, it is applied to line detection operator and Hough transform method respectively. With the line feature, striped and plaided images are classified, but speckled images are found with circle feature. For the classification of the textile images, some classification methods are used as Manual Thresholding, Nearest Neighbor, k-Nearest Neighbor, Minimum Distance. The system has been evaulated in detail, and the experimental results show that the developed system categorized the textile images successfully. 116 pp. Englisch.
