It confirms the huge atmospheric carbon dioxide that can be offset by the Kakamega forest, indicating the potential of Kenya to participate in carbon trading for both its economic and environmental benefit. This study was conducted to investigate the impact of… the implementation of the Free Wireless Connection (FWC) in IIUM, towards the students' communication climate. The study was based on the assumption that the usage of FWC will positively influence the communication climate and its dimensions. The data was collected from 300 undergraduate students to test four main hypotheses. The findings showed that there were no significant differences on the students' FWC usage and the level of their communication climate based on their gender, nationality, and academic division. However, the FWC implementation dominantly creates higher awareness among students compared to their perception, attitude, adoption, and satisfaction. And lastly, students' FWC usage positively influences their overall communication climate. It would appear that the FWC usage can predict students' communication climate, where higher FWC usage leads to higher level of communication climate. 108 pp. Englisch.

In order to see whether intellectual capital could be part of a sol…ution to combat this problem, the VAICTM was employed to determine the relevance of intellectual capital in relation to the stock price. The results of the regressions carried out show that the VAICTM is significant and provides increased explainability in the variation of stock prices. This leads to the conclusion that intellectual capital is an important determinant of share returns. Time comparisons of the R2 of calendar year regressions yielded no definitive conclusions regarding the conjecture that there was increased relevance of the measure of intellectual capital over time. Altogether, the results point towards the hypothesized relation between intellectual capital information and share returns. This indicates that high quality companies that wish to seek external financing in a market facing the lemons problem would benefit from the increased disclosure of intellectual capital information. 56 pp. Englisch.

The present study was carried out with the objective a)to study the production, consumption and disposal pattern of milk, b)to examine the factors affecting the marketed surplus of milk and c)to workout the marketing efficiency of different milk marketing channels. The study found that 54 per cent of marketed surplus was marketed throuhg un-organised sector. It was also found that marketed surplus was depending positively and significantly on the level of milk production and negatively on the family size and operational land holding. Three marketing channels namely, producer-consumrer, producer-vendor- consumrer and producer-vendor processor-consumer were found to be operating in the area. Any such change can affect declared taxable income through its effect on quality or quantity of labor supply, savings, por…tfolio decisions, tax avoidance by legal means or illegal tax evasion. In this work I focus on elasticity of taxable income as an estimate of these behavioral responses to a (personal income) tax rate change. First, I summarize theoretical background and fundamental analyses dealing with elasticity of taxable income. Further, I describe one of the methods, and its constraints, used for in empirical work on elasticity estimation known as difference-in-differences . I apply this method and estimate elasticity of taxable income in the Czech Republic using several recent personal income tax reforms. Those estimates that are consistent with economic theory and common sense suggest, along with results from optimal taxation theory, that the top marginal personal income tax rate in the Czech Republic should not exceed 71.8%, but any lower tax rate is justifiable based on redistributive tastes of a government. 112 pp. Englisch.
