Despite the fact that urbanization has benefited Botswana's economic and social development, it has also generated wide range of socio-economic challenges. This book presents the findings of the study on the social determinants of health conducted among the poor urban residents in Gaborone, Botswana. The book should be useful to policy makers in governments, International development partners, Non Governmental Organizations and scholars in the field of public and urban health.

The importance of this third variable lies in its ability to help in conducting a reliable test for detecting diabetes in the blood. This leads to a system of linear homogenous equations whose solution provides the blood glucose concentrations for diabetics and non diabetics. This model has been found to be asymptotically stable since the the eigenvalues of the coefficient matrix are complex numbers with negative real parts. The resonance period for this new model is also far less than that for the existing model. This shows that the glucose concentration returns to normal level within a shorter time. We have also shown how the Adaptive RTO algorithm helps improve t…he SCTP's performance in contrast to the existing implementation. Significant amount of data were gathered in order to show that we have improved the transfer rate in SCTP by about 5%, in the scenario where the Adaptive RTO algorithm is implemented. We have been vigilant in making sure the Adaptive RTO algorithm does not unnecessarily clog network's bandwidth, and that the current implementation of RTO MIN can be safely replaced with the Adaptive RTO algorithm. Furthermore, we have done extensive testing of the Adaptive RTO algorithm in respect to multiple scenarios.We have also shown that the Adaptive RTO algorithm does not clog network's bandwidth under any conditions. This monograph contains an attempt has been made to synthesize a new tipodal multidentae ligand containing S-Triazine function capable of holding metal ions through possible coordination center with alternative path of preparation and to search metal ions which are capable of coordinated in these available sites. Based on the analytical, spectral (i.e NMR, IR, UV), magnetic susceptibility and conductance data it is proposed that the ligand employs one or more ONN sequence in metal binding process. Precisely, the Ni(II) complex involves bonding through one ONN sequence and the Zn(II) complex has bonding through three such sequences. As such TSHSTZ behaves as a dibasic ONN donor towards Ni(II) and tri basic tris-ONN donor towards Zn(II) with the preference of Octahedral and Tetrahedral geometries respectively. 80 pp. Englisch.

Smallholder farmers tend to be risk averse, they avoid investing in capital intensive production to avoid increasing their levels of risk arising from crop failures due to weather and climate variability. A a study was carried out to investigate the access and factors that influence the utility of agro meteorological information by smallholder irrigation farmers in Lari Wendani and Perkerra irrigation schemes in Kenya.Results indicated that 98% of the farmers were able to access agro meteorological information through radio. More than 60% indicated that they could not access meteorological information from bulletins, mobile, internet and extension services.The factors affecting farmers adoption of agro meteorological information were related to the inaccuracy of forecasts; inadequate weather forecasts information for meaningful decisions and the delay in releasing seasonal forecasts giving farmers less time to make preparations. 88 pp. Englisch.
