It production is widespread with low yields due to low inputs and the lack of sorghum hybrids. The low production in Mali is due to several reasons including lack of hybrids and adapted varieties with tolerance to stresses such as drought. The main objective of this study was to improve sorghum grain yield, through the development of high yielding hybrids tolerant to post flowering drought. The parents, B and Rf-line, useful for developing hybrids for wider adaptation in semi-arid regions were identified. These parents were sown for making crosses in NCII mating design. A total of 60 F1 hybrids were obtained. They were planted along with six lines used as check and were evaluated in both drought and well-watered conditions. Results revealed three hybrids as the most drought tolerant genotypes with high yield stability in both well-watered and water stress conditions. Two female B-lines and one male R-line parent had highest grain yield in both environments. Inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) play an important role in the management of asthma. Reduction of ICS dose with any other drug combination may therefore be of clinical significance. A total of 118 Patients with mild to moderate asthma were enrolled in this randomized controlled study from the pulmonology/ medicine unit in the tertiary care hospital. Patients were randomized into two groups viz., control group (n=59) and the treatment group (n=59). Control group patients received budesonide 800 mg twice a day and the treatment patients received 400 mg budesonide twice a day+ Montelukast 10 mg. Pulmonary function test was assessed at the baseline and on follow up days. No significant differences was observed with respect to socioeconomic and educational status of patients between control and treatment groups. Improvement observed was more in control group value (43%) than in treatment group value (25%). Even though 12% FEV1 improvement were observed, the rate of improvement were not significant (p>0.5).
