Neuware -This study explores taxation literature and uses empirical evidence from the period of 1996-2006 to examine tax competition and tax harmonization in Southeast Asia. The study seeks evidence for the existence of tax competition by analyzing recent trends in two groups of measures of taxation: tax rates and tax revenues. Evidence is found for a decline in statutory corporate tax rates, developments commensurate with the existence of tax competition. On the contrary, the tax revenue data presented here, show that the expected decline in total tax revenues has not occurred; indeed, a significant increase has been recorded. It is also supported by empirical evidence of the ratio of corporate tax revenue either relative to GDP or to total tax revenue. The two groups of measures of taxation thus provide apparently inconsistent views of the impact of tax competition. There follows an analysis of the elements of tax competition according to literature, in an attempt to draw out its implications for the experience within the Southeast Asian region. What is more, the portfolio optimization problem is considered in the enlarged market. The optimization problem consists of choosing an optimal portfolio in such a way that the largest expected utility of the terminal wealth is obtained. The purpose of this study is to determine the impact of individual variable (self- efficacy), job variables role clarity, role conflict, role discretion, and role novelty), organizational variable (social support), and non- work variable (culture novelty) on the three dimensions of repatriation adjustment psychological well-being, socio-cultural adjustment, and work adjustment). Data were collected from 104 Malaysian repatriates. It was found that external self- efficacy impacted on psychological well-being and work adjustment. In relationship between job variables with repatriation adjustment, only role conflict showed a negative relationship with psychological well-being. However, the present study was not able to support the relationship between social support and repatriation adjustment. Aldehydes are commonly used as cross-linking chemicals, from which glutaraldehyde and formaldehyde have the greatest importance. Final quality and optimal behaviour of the end product depend on various conditions during the cross-linking reaction. This book deals with mathematical description of cross-linking process represented by the nonlinear vector differential equations. Linearization of the equations is given to determine a transfer matrix. In the experimental part, the physical methods exploiting changes of electrical and optical properties of investigated polymer are used. These changes allowed accomplishing not only experimental identification of the cross-linking system but also partial clarification of the first-step mechanism when poly-electrolytic circle of the cross-linking protein is opening. Neuware -Cadmium, copper, chromium, lead, nickel, and zinc were measured in water, sediments, and some common macroalgal species (Ulva fasciata, Ulva reticulata, Sargassum species, Padina boryana, Turbinaria ornata, Colpomenia sinuosa) of four sites, namely La Cuvette, Pointe d''Esny, Poste La Fayette and Pointe aux Sables. Heavy metal concentrations were determined by flame atomic absorption spectrophotometry. A correlation study (spearman) between the different elements in seawater, sediments, and seaweeds was also done. Metals were thus found to most accumulate in sediments, and seaweeds. The most abundant heavy metal in sediment was observed to be chromium whereas zinc was most prevalent in seaweeds. The highest average concentration read for chromium in sediment was 43.513 ± 3.315 mg/Kg at Pointe d''Esny whereas the highest mean reading for zinc in seaweeds was 192.52 ± 11.30 mg/Kg at Pointe aux Sables.
