Differently processed maggot meals were assessed and fed to C. gariepinus fingerlings. Five isonitrogenous and isocaloric diets were formulated to provide 40% crude protein. Fishmeal in the diet…s were totally replaced with either oven-dried full-fat, oven-dried defatted (Diets II & IV) or sundried full-fat, sundried defatted (Diets III & V) maggot meals respectively. Diet I without maggot meal served as the control. An experiment was conducted to determine the nutrient density (proximate composition, gross energy and mineral constituent) of processed maggot meals (hydrolyzed, unhydrolyzed, defatted, full-fat, sundried and oven-dried).The experiment also assessed the effect of processed maggot meals as replacement for fish meal in practical diets for C. gariepinus. The results obtained from the experiments indicated that: high levels of nutrients exist in the processed maggot meals and the occurrence of the nutrients was higher in defatted-oven-dried samples. It is recommended that farmers should utilize maggot meal in place of fishmeal which is presently in use and highly expensive.

Individual factors that are rated highly by investors are; profitability of the company, marketability of the shares, present and future conditions and interest rates. Further findings reveal that most of the investors do not use risk analysis models to analyse the risks associated with the investment in ordinary shares, though a bigger number consider risk in ordinary shares as medium. However, designing an efficient ensemble has faced a number of challenges such as the large space of ensembles, increasing the diversity between the ensemble members, and the use of an efficient method to combine the decisions of the ensemble members. In this book, a novel ensemble selection algorithm is proposed. The proposed algorithm addresses the main challenges of the ensemble selection problem taking into consideration the special nature of microarray datasets. A set of experiments has been performed to study the robustness of ensembles of classifiers. This study shows that ensembles of classifiers are more robust than single classifiers. The study also shows that the proposed algorithm performs betten than other ensemble selection algorithms in the literature. 60 pp. Englisch.

There is a need to evaluate successes and risks associated with these PMTCT strategies. In a retrospective cohort study, records…of mothers who received either of two PMTCT strategies were linked with infant records and analyzed. From a total of 286 paired records, 225 (78.7%) received HAART, 38 (13.3%), Sc-ARVs while 23 (8%) had no ARVs in pregnancy. Overall transmission rate was 2.4% (5/208) in infants from the HAART group and 7.9% (3/38) for the Sc-ARV group. At ninth month of life 1% of infants in the HAART group and 13% in the Sc-ARV group were infected. Four infections occurred in the HAART group after ninth month of life due to breast milk exposure. Factors found to be associated with risk of vertical transmission included duration of ART use 3 months (OR 0.19: 95%CI 0.04-0.90), mixed feeding (OR 3.68: 95%CI 1.01-13.52), HAART in pregnancy (OR 0.07: 95%CI 0.02-0.28) and infant post exposure ARV prophylaxis (OR 0.19: 95%CI 0.05-0.77). Conclusion: HAART is a comparably more efficient PMTCT strategy in improving HIV free survival among exposed infants. 60 pp. Englisch.

Present book is based on an experimental s…tudy in which children with mental retardation taught number skills to their retarded juniors. Students with mental retardation attending pre-vocational class served as tutors and tutees were from primary class. Tutors were selected on the basis of their abilities to handle younger children, their social skills and their ability to communicate as observed through several checklists prepared for this purpose. Initially tutors received training for twenty sessions and then they taught tutees individually for twenty sessions. The result revealed a significant gain in number skill of tutees, and improved social and communication skills of peer-tutors. It was also evident from the findings that competencies could be improved in children with Mental Retardation to be effective tutor for younger children with mental retardation. 80 pp. Englisch.

DNA microarray is one of the most powerful tools, which enables the expression profiling of thousands of genes simultane…ously. It has also proven to be an extremely valuable tool to efficiently utilize the enormous amount of information provided by the completion of numerous genome projects. Data clustering analysis has been widely applied to extract information and also to identify groups of genes or samples displaying a similar expression profile. In this experiment we have used the Affymetrix microarray Technology which is also known as GeneChip microarray. By using this Technology I have written this work on rice gene expression. In my book I have tried to find out which genes are regulated by cold stress, the genes that are affected by cold stress. The method is based on a generalized linear model. Several statistical tests have been done for the analysis and simulated datasets are used to show that the method performs substantially better than other common methods in the field. We have also used Hierarchical Clustering method to get the pattern of the unknown gene. 60 pp. Englisch.
