The complete two volumes of this influential two-volume study on English folklore, 'The Traditions of Lancashire'. Both are illustrated, with the original unclipped dustwrapper. Being the first and second series and held in the original unclipped dustwrappers. The first volume of this work was a huge success with the British upper classes and was reprinted within a year. This lead to the second series being published in 1831. With a preface memorial of the author. Bookseller's label to the front pastedowns, B H Blackwell Ltd. With illustrations by George Pickering and engraved by Edward Finden. To volume I there is a frontispiece and eleven plates, to volume II there is a frontispiece and ten plates. In full cloth bindings and held in the original unclipped dustwrappers. Externally, generally smart. Very light bumping to the head and tail of spines. Dustwrappers are chipped to the head and tail, with further chips to the extremities. Wraps are lightly age toned with scattered spots and handling marks.
