This limited edition of Barry Lopez's 1996 Pushcart Prize-winning essay was designed, printed and bound by Sandy Tilcock. It is printed from handset Perpetua types on Zerkall German Ingres paper using a Vandercook 219 proofing press. The edition size is 179 copies consisting of 150 numbered, signed, soft-cover copies and 29 deluxe, hardcover copies, signed and boxed, featuring an intaglio print by Suellen Larkin (#9/32). Of the deluxe edition 26 are lettered A through Z and 3 are designated as artist's copies. This copy is one of the 26 copies lettered A through Z, and signed by Barry Lopez. It is Copy E printed for Earle Henness, the late proprietor of The Beaverdam Press. Earle Henness printed using the old-fashioned method; from lead type, hand-feeding the paper to Chandler & Price platen presses. Sandy Tilcock's limited edition books have attained international recognition for their design, creative use of materials, precise typography, and attention to detail. Limited Edition (one of the 26 lettered copies).
