En 1977, De Grâce devient peintre à temps plein et crée son propre univers pictural, selon un style très décoratif grandement influencé par certaines oeuvres de Marc Chagall (peintre biélorusse d'origine juive, 1887-1985). ***** Nérée De Grâce doit sa popularité à la chanteuse acadienne Édith Butler qui a contribué largement à faire connaître sa production artistique à partir de 1979. De plus, l'écrivaine Antonine Maillet a retenu quelques toiles pour illustrer ses pièces de théâtre et ses romans. Postes Canada a également choisi une oeuvre de Nérée De Grâce pour illustrer le timbre commémoratif du centenaire de la première Convention acadienne, tenue à Memramcook en 1881. ***** Un livre intitulé: « Nérée De Grâce », texte de Pierre H. Savignac, préface de Guy Robert et photographies de Michel Julien, fut publié en 1987 par les Éditions Marcel Broquet, LaPrairie, Québec. ***** Récipiendaire du prix Méritas acadien de La Fédération acadienne du Québec inc. en mars 1998. Il a reçu un Doctorat d'honneur en arts visuels de l'Université de Moncton (Centre universitaire de Shippagan) lors de la collation des diplômes de mai 1987. ***** Nérée De Grâce est décédé le 12 janvier 2002 à l'âge de 81 ans.
