Aggiungi al carrellohardcover. Condizione: Very Good. First Edition. Publication: Lymington, Nautical Publishing Company Limited in association with George G. Harrap & Company Limited, 1974 Formatting: 8vo, pp. 142. Condition Report: Very Good. This copy presents exceptionally well in its original, unclipped dust jacket, showing only minor signs of age. The light green cloth boards remain remarkably bright and completely square, with sharp corners, no evidence of shelf-wear, and brilliant, unoxidised silver stamping to the front board and spine. The binding is impressively tight and structurally pristine, suggesting the book has seen little, if any, reading. The primary reason this copy is graded as Very Good rather than Fine is the presence of moderate, scattered foxing; this spotting is confined largely to the text block edges, the front endpapers, and the preliminary pages (including the half-title, title, and copyright pages), while the central text block remains clean. The accompanying dust jacket is equally attractive, retaining its vibrant front panel illustration and original pricing, exhibiting only trivial edge-wear and a hint of very light creasing at the head of the spine. Catalogue Note: This copy is a true first edition, first printing. It is distinguished by a highly desirable piece of provenance: the author's signature on the title page. In his characteristic and well-documented style, Tilman has struck a firm pen line through his printed name and signed 'H. W. Tilman.' directly beneath it in dark ink. The volume is illustrated throughout with striking black-and-white photographs documenting the arduous voyages and formidable ice formations, supplemented by double-page map endpapers that trace the geographical breadth of the expeditions. Copies bearing Tilmanâs authentic strike-through signature are exceptionally scarce and highly prized by collectors of polar exploration and mountaineering history. In Ice With Everything, the indefatigable sailor and mountaineer H. W. 'Bill' Tilman recounts three distinct and dramatic voyages to the unforgiving Arctic waters off Greenland. Undertaken between 1971 and 1973, his first two expeditions aboard the Seabreeze were defined by relentless struggles against impenetrable sea ice, culminating in the crushing and tragic loss of the vessel. Refusing to yield to the Arctic's hostility, Tilman acquired the pilot cutter Baroque and returned the following year, facing gales, thick fog, and colossal icebergs. Told with his trademark dry wit, literary elegance, and stoic endurance, the book stands as a testament to the unyielding spirit of one of the twentieth century's greatest explorers.
