Paperback. Condizione: As New. Unread and unopened! (Hard to say new when it's 32 years old). To compare the morals of the Old, with those of theNew Testament, would require an attentive study of the former, a search through all its books for its precepts, and through all its history for its practices, and the principles they pr…ove. As commentaries, too, on these, the philosophy of the Hebrews must be inquired into, their Mishna, their Gemara, Cabbala, Jezirah, Sohar, Cosri, and their Talmud, must be examined and understood, in order to do them full justice. Brucker, it would seem, has gone deeply into these repositories of their ethics, and Enfield, his epitomizer, concludes in these words: "Ethics were so little understood among the Jews that in their whole compilation called the Talmud, there is only one treatise on moral subjects . What a wretched depravity of sentiment and manners must have prevailed, before such corrupt maxims could have obtained credit! It is impossible to collect from these writings a consistent series of moral doctrine.'' It was the reformation of this "wretched depravity" of morals which Jesus undertook. In extracting the pure principle which he taught, we should have to strip off the artificial vestments in which they have been muffled by the priests, who have travested them into various forms, as instruments of riches and power to themselves.

Hardcover. Condizione: As New. First Edition. Unread and unopened! (Hard to list as 'New' when it's 31 years old). 2 tiny spots on top outer edges. Recounts one of the 20th century's strangest and most stirring sea adventures -- the successful round-the-globe expedition of the World War I German commerce raider and minelayer Wol…f. Breaking the Allied blockade, and disguised as a merchant ship, it sank 135,000 tons of Allied shipping. No German surface raider was more successful than the auxiliary cruiser Wolf. The unimposing steamer was armed with seven 5.9 guns and four torpedo tubes -- all ingeniously camouflaged. For 15 months it fought a brilliant campaign, capturing more than two dozen enemy steamers, taking prisoner their experienced crews, then sending their ships to the bottom -- destroying altogether 135,000 tons of enemy shipping. During that time the raider shunned all ports, seizing fuel and food from the ships it took on the high seas, slipping through heavily patrolled waters again and again to score victories and spread panic from New Zealand to Brazil. Her story, as told by an Australian radio operator who spent nine months as a captive on board the Wolf, is a tale of seamanship, courage and chivalry unique in the annals of warfare. Unparalleled wartime adventure on the high seas! ISBN 0-939482-36-3. Hardcover; 270 pp.

Paperback. Condizione: As New. (Hard to list as 'New' when it's 27 years old). Unread and unopened! Complete, shocking story of how, and why, the Soviet secret police massacred Tsar Nicholas II, his wife Alexandra, and their five children. As head of the dynasty that had ruled Russia for three centuries, Nicholas II personified…his land and people. His cold-blooded murder by order of Lenin and Sverdlov was thus symbolic of the Communist effort to obliterate a rich national and cultural heritage, and presaged the terrible Soviet bloodletting of later years. Dramatic yet meticulous account by a veteran British journalist and historian, based on the official on-site inquest of Russian investigator Nikolai Sokolov -- the most thorough ever conducted. As special correspondent in Russia for the London Times during the years of revolution and civil war, the author writes with authority and rare candor. He forthrightly assigns responsibility for the historic crime, showing the role of racial-ethnic revenge in motivating the killers. The crucial Jewish role in the Communist takeover of Russia and the early Bolshevik regime is detailed in an eye-opening introduction by historian Mark Weber, and an appendix by the author. Attractive, updated new edition of an authoritative but long-suppressed work. A generous selection of rare and revealing photographs supplements the text. ISBN 0-939484-47-1. Pb; 2nd printing. 210 pp; Photos, index.

Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: As New. Unread and unopened! Here is the inside story of four of the most colossal military clashes in history, by Soviet Russia's greatest World War II commander. Marshal Zhukov tells how he directed the Red Army's bitter last-ditch defense of Moscow, masterminded the encirclement and defeat of some 600,0…00 German troops at Stalingrad, smashed the last great German counteroffensive of Kursk-Orel in history's mightiest tank battle, and led the awesome, climactic assault on Berlin. Zhukov also provides intimate detail of Kremlin discussions behind critical military decisions, and reveals the behind-the-scenes story of disputes and controversy between himself and Soviet dictator Stalin. Cornelius Ryan, bestselling author of The Longest Day, wrote of this book: "Probably the single most important memoir by a Russian military leader to reach the general public in the West. It adds to the canvas -- and the color Zhukov uses is blood red!" Must reading for anyone who is seriously interested in World War II. With helpful detail maps, and valuable introduction and explanatory notes by Harrison E. Salisbury. Hardcover; 304 pp; Dust jacket, maps, index.

Paperback. Condizione: As New. Unread and unopened! (Hard to list as 'New' when it's 41 years old). Small scuff on cover. See photos. Probably the single most important work of one of this century's most original and trenchant thinkers. Defying "liberal" and "conservative" shibboleths alike, Dennis reveals the role of over-produ…ction and hyper-capitalism, international banking, and debt money in fomenting internal chaos (revolution) and external strife (war). As a State Department diplomat and international banker, the author saw close up the forces that make for domestic and international political upheaval. He was also the foremost defendant in FDR's infamous 1944 Sedition Trial. What are the Dynamics? For author Lawrence Dennis, the fundamental dynamic of war in this age is the capitalist juggernaut that demands interminable industrial and market expansion to absorb excess goods created by debt-fueled economies. When bankers create money out of thin air, and lend it at interest, more money must be created to pay back the principal plus the interest. Industry must then feverishly produce more and more goods to sell to pay off these debts and shore up the imaginary money with real assets. In times of peace, excess goods can be palmed off onto colonies, client-states, and poor countries in the form of foreign aid and export surpluses. But there comes a time when the recipients can no longer take this "help" and the capitalist must look around for other ways to dispose of excessive production. War - the wasteful enterprise that it is - makes an ideal dumping ground. Who was Lawrence Dennis? A man who once worked for the Seligman international bankers, who later came to despise international finance and capitalism itself. A man who once worked for the U.S. State Department, who was later charged with sedition. A man who once called for U.S. Marines to invade Nicaragua and topple the government, who later came to unequivocally condemn U.S. interference overseas. A man who described "fascism" as inevitable, and yet admired leading socialists. The Dynamics of War and Revolution, first published in 1941 when America hovered on the brink of war and Europe was already in flames, represented a milestone in American political-philosophical outlook. But who today has heard of Lawrence Dennis or his works? Both he and his ideas have long since been consigned to the Memory Hole by a media and academia anxious to ignore or suppress any manifestation of truly independent thought that threatens The Established Order and doesn't fit within the conventional Left/Right spectrum. As this book again goes to press in this Noontide reprint edition, America and other capitalist nations continue to war around the globe at virtually every opportunity. What could be more relevant today than a book that describes the causes and dynamics of war? And who could better write such a book than an interventionist capitalist who rudely awoke to the injustice and immorality of the system he once embraced? Preface by James J. Martin. ISBN 0-939482-41-X. Pb; 259 pp; Index.
