It is known that individuals with hypertension have a higher risk of developing coronary artery disease, stroke, heart failure, kidney failure… and peripheral arterial disease. The clinical and therapeutic management of hypertension includes not only pharmacological measures, but also non-pharmacological ones such as targeted salt restriction, smoking restriction, combating stress, weight loss and physical exercise. In this sense, a physical conditioning programme has often been recommended as an important approach in the treatment of hypertension. The spontaneously hypertensive rat is an excellent model of essential human hypertension. Its importance has been credited to the similarity of its pathophysiology with essential (primary) hypertension in humans. The aim of this study was to assess the effect of continuous low-intensity aerobic exercise performed at different weekly training frequencies on systolic blood pressure in spontaneously hypertensive rats. 52 pp. Englisch.

Liquid nitriding is one of the processes used to generate surface hardening, high resistance to wear, fatigue and corrosion in metallic materials through the atomic diffusion of nitrogen on the surface of the material. This thermochemical treatment consists of immersing the workpiece in a medium of molten salts rich in nitrogen at temperatures of 500 to 570ºC. The aim of this work was to analyze the liquid nitriding process on 17-4 PH stainless steel and to characterize the nitrided layer and the microstructure of the substrate adjacent to the deposition using microhardness, optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy techniques. 68 pp. Englisch.

The playwright touches upon the problems inherent in post-Soviet society, such as the destruction of collective utopias of mass consciousness due to political changes, the internal conflict between the stable ideas of the past and the new mentality. The plays reflect the stereotypes of mass consciousness and the problems of a society living at the crossroads of centuries. The idea, based on simulacra present in mass consciousness, is largely aimed at the post-Soviet addressee, to whom the mentality peculiar to A. Mardan's heroes is most understandable. We observe the juxtaposition of the world of reality and illusion in the behaviour of the heroes, and an example of the influence of theatre, theatricality and fiction on the human worldview and destiny. Metadramatism is noticeable in the plot of the plays and in various allusions and analogies, taking features of both classical and modernist conceptions of this technique. 56 pp. Englisch.

This increase in interest from industries and research groups in developing and using materials m…ade from renewable materials is mainly due to the worldwide call for environmental preservation. The aim of this study was to characterize composites reinforced with treated sugarcane bagasse fibres in a high-impact polystyrene (HIPS) matrix, with the aim of possibly replacing the materials currently used in the pet shop industry. Three families of composites were characterized, in proportions of 10, 20 and 30% (m/m). The composites were characterized using the techniques of helium pycnometry, Shore A hardness, impact resistance and fluidity index. The addition of bagasse fibers to HIPS resulted in a material with up to 30% less polymer and with viable mechanical properties for certain HIPS applications, where cost and Shore A hardness are more important than impact resistance. 60 pp. Englisch.
