Paperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. In a quest to protect the truth, the activist Marion Stokes recorded television twenty-four hours a day for thirty years on more than seventy thousand tapes. She started in 1979, during the Iran Hostage Crisis now considered the birth of the twenty- four-hour news cycle and ended on the day of her death, as news of the Sandy Hook Massacre first broke. In between she captured revolutions, catastrophes, talk shows, sitcoms, lies, triumphs, and commercials that tell us who we were and how television shaped our world today. Filmmaker Matt Wolf has compiled a sequence of images, culled from over seven hundred hours of Marions tapes, that capture the texture of the past and express the subliminal power of televisual life. Hardcover. Condizione: new. Hardcover. Published on the occasion of the exhibition David Salle: New Pastorals at Gladstone, New York in 2024.Foreword by Nancy Spector and essay by Ben Lerner. To create this new series of dynamically constructed paintings, the New Pastorals (2024),Salle developed an AI training model in partnership with engineer Grant Davis, focused exclusively on hisown previous work, namely his Pastorals series from the late 1990s and early 2000s. These canvases, accordingto the artist, provided the perfect range of data to deconstruct and reassemble: their compositions are divided intodiscrete interlocking shapes; there are several distinct color palettes operating simultaneously; and they are suffusedwith a myriad of detail. What resulted, when the machine was torqued by a lever that determines degrees of similarityand dissimilarity, were irreal mountain landscapes populated by fragmenting bodies, vestiges of bathers and shepherdssuccumbing to the determinant forces of code. Paperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. Pre-Echo Press presents Eclipse Body & Soul Syntax, an artist book by New York City based, English artist, Nick Relph.Amounting to a sort of unofficial and urgent index of a new city quickly replacing an old one, the book is a collection of scans made over the past decade, using a library wand scanner, clandestinely collected from building sites' public postings, all over New York City.Extreme high resolution butts up against the handheld nature of the scanning process, and the uncanny irreality of manufactured light and space of the construction renderings, to create an ominous dictionary of the dystopian present of urban cities around the world. A mysterious object, testifying to what will surely be our future ruins. Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.…
