ALSO LAID IN is a Christmas card from the Touts hand dated "Dec '43" which has on it a color photo of the Touts sitting in front of their fireplace. 4to. (28 cm.) 429p, Profusely (!!) illustrated with black and white captioned photos, including many of the pioneers and early important people in the Imperial Valley, as well as of the author and his wife. Index to Subjects, Index to Illustrations and Index to Names. Brown Buckram blocked in triple blind with the title in raised gilt letters on a gilt cartouche on the front cover and with the title similarly displayed on the spine. Wear to extremities with corners just worn through, top and bottom of spine starting to fray, gilt somewhat dulled, small hole in spine, rubbing along the gutters of the covers, tipped and laid in items in near fine condition, some tape stains on the front pastedown, all photos in fine condition, else very good to near fine with no internal markings. No dust jacket, perhaps as issued. All in all in extraordinarily fine condition for this heavy book with coated paper stock now nearly a hundred years old. A "must have" for any collector of Imperial Valley books and a rare find with the included ephemera. [Please note: Extra postage may be required for this large heavy volume with coated paper stock.
