No Flaws or Blemishes but minimal shelf handling; The bindings are tight and square. Text clean, age-toning. Appears Unread, No spine crease. "Men Like Rats" depicts a world dominated by colossal warehouses (Lows) and automated drop ships (Highs) that incessantly shuttle cargo back and forth. A massive alien race has taken over Earth, repurposing it as a giant storage facility. Humans, reduced to living on the margins, scavenge the warehouses and ships like pests. In this narrative, the aliens remain unseen, influencing events from behind the scenes. Barclay Shaw is an American professional artist best known for his fantasy and science fiction artwork. Since 1978, Shaw has painted more than 500 book and magazine covers. He has been nominated five times for the Hugo Award for Best Professional Artist and has earned a top ten ranking six times in the annual Locus Award for Best Artist. His oeuvre is distinguished for its eclectic style, surrealistic overtones and crystalline rendering.

Aggiungi al carrelloPaperback. Condizione: Near Fine. 1st Edition. 1st printing of the first edition of the author's first book SIGNED on the title page with a black ballpoint pen. A mass market paperback original. This is a very early signature. It was signed by Sawyer at Ad Astra 11, which was held June 7-9. 1991, in Toronto, and the book was published in New York in December 1990. This copy is inscribed "For Joe -- with hopes for a golden future! Robert J. Sawyer Ad Astra 11." Indeed, Sawyer has had a golden career. A highly decorated writer of Science Fiction, he won the Nebula Award for Best Novel (1995), the Hugo Award for Best Novel (2003), the John W. Campbell Memorial Award (2006), the Robert A. Heinlein Award (2017), and multiple Aurora Awards (more than any other writer). This copy is surprisingly well-preserved and apparently unread. The book is tight. The artwork is bright and the surface of the covers is glossy. The page edges are tanned, and a short length of the surface of the top edge of the front cover is worn away, next to the spine. No reading crease or markings by a previous owner. The first hardcover was a book club edition. This is the true first. Signed by Author(s).
