Slight residue from old label top front cover. 1 of 1000 copies of first edition. According to essayist Lilly Wei, "Light, created out of increasingly subtle modulations of color and contained within an imagined space…[is] Joan Watts' primary subject. Although Watts' work is reductive, part of the Modernist legacy and often considered Minimalist, she insists it is not. Premised as it is on the immaterial and transcendent, in intention, it has greater affinities to the paintings and statements of Agnes Martin, the installations of James Turrell and other artists of light and space, to Buddhist teachings and the spiritual." 296 pages. As this volume is both over sized and heavy there will be an extra charge for priority mail or for posting it outside the country. Watts, Joan (illustratore). …

Hardcover. Condizione: Fine. No Dust Jacket. 1st. (USA) Presumed 1st edition. No markings, includes the CD in the pcoket to the inside back cover, 1/4 tiny mark to the lower edge of the back cover, otherwsie Fine; no dust jacket as published. Hardcover, no page numbers, [176]pp, full-page colour photos. There is almost no text; the book consists of colour photos of the creation of this work. In March of 2010, land artist Jim Denevan (born 1961) and his crew journeyed to the world's largest lake--Lake Baikal in southwestern Siberia--where they created the world's largest artwork on the frozen surface of the water. Enduring sub-zero temperatures and blistering winds, the seven participants used chain fencing to inscribe the ice with a series of circles based on the Fibonacci sequence (where each number is the sum of the previous two), which varied in diameter from an origin point of only 18 inches to nine square miles. The project broke the record for the largest artwork in existence, which was previously held by Denevan's 2009 work in the Nevada desert. This volume records the highs and lows, the comedy and the drama, of this extraordinary venture, as well as the final ephemeral work itself. (3.0 JM LVR 201/4 Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾".…

Hardcover. A gray fabric hardcover book with the title debossed in black down the spine. There is a dust jacket and a mylar jacket. The dust jacket features and black-and-white photograph wrapped around both covers. The front and back free and pasted end pages are a heavy gray paper. The headband is black. Pages: (8), 9-151, (4). The book is mostly full page, black-and-white photographs. "In her latest body of work, multimedia artist Shirin Neshat (born 1957) turns her focus to the American West. With more than 100 photographs, a two-channel video installation and a feature film, Neshat creates a multilayered look at contemporary America through the eyes of a fictionalized artist. Monumental black-and-white photographs are transformed through Neshat's use of Farsi text and images that have been hand-drawn onto the picture. The texts represent Neshat's interpretation of the dreams of the sitter, with references to ancient myths and ideologies. Neshat works and experiments with photography, video and film, imbuing them with highly poetic and politically charged images and narratives that question issues of power, religion, race, gender and the relationship between the past and present, occident and orient, individual and collective through the lens of her personal experiences as an Iranian woman living in exile." VG: Exlibrary book. There are two stickers on the mylar covering spine and back cover. There are two stickers and one due date card pasted onto the back free end paper. The book is in excellent condition, and looks like it was rarely (if ever- the due date card is completely blank!) taken from the shelf.…

Hardcover. First Edition. White color-illustrated DJ with brown and grey lettering; color-illustrated boards with white lettering; unpaginated; richly illustrated. In the summer of 2013, SITE Sante Fe presents a new project by Enrique Martínez Celaya (born 1964) entitled 'The pearl'. For this exhibition, Martínez Celaya transforms all 15,000 square feet of SITE's gallery space into an immersive installation environment that includes several large and small-scale paintings, sculptures, video, waterworks and olfactory interventions. This exhibition integrates many of the elements and ideas that the artist has engaged with over the last several years. For this project, the artist takes the notion of home as both a point of departure and a destination to craft a multisensory experience that is an extended metaphor for a journey of emotional and psychological reflection. Visitors experience the installation in a specific sequence that allows a multilevel narrative to unfold coherently. This volume records the conception of the work with drawings and studio photos, as well as installation images of the final work. -- WorldCat. VG (Ex art library with sticker on DJ spine and rear endpaper; DJ is lightly shelfworn; boards have bumping; interior is in excellent condition; binding is solid.).…
