Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good. Francis Lee Jaques (illustratore). 1st Edition. I have also had an interest in books about the outdoors and nature, and consequently have a large collection which I will be listing periodically. Here are two books by the same Author and Illustrator: Walter Collins O'Kane and Francis Lee Jaques. These small hard cover books were published separately but only a year or so apart and the one is clearly intended as a sequel so I am reluctant to separate them. Please find: - "The Cabin", dated 1955 published by Wake-Brook House of Sanbornville, New Hampshire, 247 pages, signed by the Author. - "Beyond the Cabin Door", dated 1957, published by Richard R. Smith of West Rindge, New Hampshire, 239 pages. Condition: Both of these books are in very good ++ condition. The dust jackets show some light edge wear but nothing extreme. Inside, the only mark I found in the Author's signature in "The Cabin"; the second book is clean and bright. The interior pages and illustrations by the Artist are clean and bright throughout, without toning or foxing. All the hinges are intact and the bindings are tight and sound. These books are not ex-library or remainders. Signed by Author(s).

No date- between 1850 and 1870. 450 pages with instructions to binder listing plates on the back of page 450 plus a 32 page supplement Original boards have been retained and new endpapers added to make the book sound and tight- it has been well done and the original boards are in reasonable condition although the gilt lettering is not very clear.Still quite a nice copy despite the faults set out below. This is the sixth edition enlarged and improved. There is a quarter of an inch margin of water staining to the bottom and half way up on the first few pages including title page and frontis. To be honest this is barely visible except for the first two pages. The top quarter inch of one plate is missing otherwise the plates are all present in very good condition The index to the plants in the supplement is present as are the 25 colour plates, coloured frontis and coloured title page plus the nerves and skeleton and 24 orders of Linnaeus ( these last three are uncoloured) Overall it is very clean internally although the colouring is crude as usual.
