What inspired me to write this book was my depression and having difficulties growing up. I was struggling to identify myself, trying to fit in with the world. I battled with depression and I felt anxiety, guilt, hopelessness, sadness, loneliness and had suicidal thoughts. Those feelings overtook me on a daily basis. Once I recovered from depression, I was inspired to help others who might be experiencing the same thing. I always tell my mother that it can be 100 years from now when I'm no longer here, and if my book can save people from self-destruction, that is all I need. I hope the information in this book will help you become better with yourself, letting you know that you are a divine, beautiful human, capable of activating your higher self and letting go of low self-esteem. I would be laying down in green pastures talking to God and thanking Him for all this joy I was experiencing. Growing up on this small farm and taking care of the animals was one of the joys I had. My inspiration came from Him in prayer, many, many prayers and from my loving wife, Elizabeth. She can be very determined in making things happen and is usually helping someone. We both share Gods Word on a daily basis. This is what Elizabeth's determination is all about - sharing God with others. She believed writing this book would do just that.

Kendall was a college professor and head of the religion department at Mars Hill College (now Mars Hill University), in Mars Hill, N.C. for nearly 40 years. In July, 1999 I decided I would take one mission trip to Honduras working through an organization called 'Baptist Medical Dental Mission International'. We placed some glasses out on a table and people came by and tried them on at random until something helped them. I immediately knew this was wrong but I did not know what was right. I knew it was the best we could do at the time. I came back from that trip with a God Given passion to do it better. Since 1999 I have gone to Honduras 28 times and Nicaragua 3 times. Each time something was improved. In 2003 we incorporated as 'Kendall Optometry Ministry' and we have now had 1700 teams use our equipment taking them to 79 different countries.
