På svenska, med både svenskt och engelskt titelblad.…- - - Bror Emil Hildebrand (1806-1884) var arkeolog, numismatiker och museiman; riksantikvarie, ledamot och ständig sekreterare av Kungliga Vitterhets Historie och Antikvitets Akademien, ledamot och ständig sekreterare av Svenska Akademien samt grundare av Statens historiska museum. Numismatiken var bara ett av de områden inom vilka Hildebrand hade en betydande roll. Han blev docent i numismatik i Lund 1830 och fick senare förordnade vid Kungliga myntkabinettet. Till hans viktiga numismatiska arbeten hör Numismata anglosaxonica (1829), Upplysningar till Sveriges mynthistoria (1831-32) samt de grundläggande materialpublikationerna Anglosaxiska mynt i Kungl. Myntkabinettet (1846, 2:a upplagan 1881), Minnespenningar över enskilda svenska män och qvinnor (1860) och Sveriges och svenska konungahusets minnespenningar (2 band, 1874-75).
