The steep mountains, high population density, over-grazing, deforestation, monsoon climate are the reasons that make the country prone to landslides. The landslide also provides opport…unities for plant colonization and succession. However, there are very few studies related to a succession of vegetation in the landslide area. This study was carried out in the Bhat Khola River and Seti Khola River sub-watersheds of Phedikhola Rural Municipality of Panchase region, western Nepal. Altogether four inactive landslides of different ages were identified and selected for the study purpose. A total of 18 quadrant plots of size 10m × 10m for tree species and 72 quadrant plots of 2m × 2m for shrub/herb species were laid down using systematic sampling method and foot trial as belt transect in different ages of inactive landslides. Identification, count and measurement of all the species were carried out. There was higher herb richness in younger inactive landslide i.e., Inactive Landslide of six and seven years. The scope of research covered basic dynamic parameters: curvature and its increment, speed and acceleration of wheel lift, track twist and lateral acceleration increment.As a result of conducted analysis it can be stated that polynomial curves deserve special attention in the design of railway routes. By appropriately modifying their equation, it is possible to change easily positions of extremes of particular dynamic parameters and thus to adjust their values to terrain conditions, direction of movement and type of rail vehicle. 72 pp. Englisch.

Sometimes, we may find ourselves in a situation where the coding parameters are unknown to us while it is also necessary for us to retrieve the information. We have shown a way to classify and estimate coding parameters. Also, a second situation exists wherein the channel keeps varying with time and on application of fixed code rate error control mechanism, we find it is less efficient. The conservative approach would be just to make use of minimum code rate so as to mitigate maximum fading. Adaptive Modulation and Coding (AMC) is the known approach to such an issue - wherein the coding parameters are adapted as per the fading conditions. We have ventured into AMC as well.
