Samples are fabricated by the hand lay-up process (40: 20: 40 matrix, filler and fiber ratio by weight), and the mechanical properties like tensile, flexural, impact using the Universal Testing Machine, Hardness test using Rockwell hardness testing machine, Impact using Izod impact test were all evaluated. The experiment was a spl…it split plot in randomized complete block design with three replicates. The main plot treatments were two sweetpotato varieties (white-fleshed TIS87/0087 and orange-fleshed Umuspo 3). The split plot treatments were five NPK fertilizer rates (0, 100, 200, 300 and 400kg/ha) while the split split plot treatments were three spent mushroom substrate levels (0, 2 and 4t/ha). Averaged across sweetpotato varieties and NPK fertilizer, spent mushroom substrate significantly increased leaf area index, shoot biomass and storage root yield. Application of NPK fertilizer increased leaf area index and shoot biomass in both years and storage root yield in 2019. The white-fleshed TIS87/0087 variety produced significantly higher shoot biomass than Umuspo 3 in both years. TIS87/0087 had higher root yield than Umuspo 3 in 2018, but in 2019, the latter out yielded the former. Three-way interactions were significant for shoot biomass in 2018 and for storage root yield. 60 pp. Englisch.

Currently, the weed is harvested from the Lake and left in the open to rot and decay leading to loss of aes…thetics, land and air pollution. There is therefore need for development of value addition and economic exploitation strategies. The aim of the study is to assess the potential for utilization of the weed as a renewable energy resource for biogas production. Samples were collected from Lake Victoria, pulped and blend with cow dung at a ratio of 3:1 as inoculum. The resultant mixture was mixed with water at a ratio of 1:1 and fed into a 6 m3 tubular digester. The digester was recharged with 20 kg after every three days. The temperature, pH variations, gas compositions, upgrading and gas yields were studied. The temperature ranged between 22.8 C - 36.6 C and pH 7.4 - 8.5. Biogas was found to contain 49% - 53% methane (CH4), 30% - 33% carbon dioxide (CO2), 5% - 6% nitrogen (N2) and traces of hydrogen sulfide (H2S). 56 pp. Englisch.

The reporting and disclosure practice of firms is influenced by social and cultural norms that create a preference towards secrecy. In this book, I identify three di…mensions of national culture that are linked to investors' payoff, and model strategic information disclosure as an equilibrium outcome of the interaction between the firm and investors. We find that the level of disclosure is positively related to individualism, and negatively related to masculinity and uncertainty avoidance. Under certain circumstances, too many noise traders would create a disincentive for the firm to disclose. Consistent with the model predictions, I construct a voluntary disclosure score for China and draw a comparison between China and the US using data from two world-wide surveys. 52 pp. Englisch.
