The theory of dendroidal sets is based on trees instead of linear orders and has many features analogous to the theory of simplicial sets, but it also reveals new phenomena. For example, dendroidal sets admit a closed symmetric monoidal structure related to the Boardman-Vogt tensor product of operads. The lecture notes start with the combinatorics of trees and culminate with a suitable model structure on the category of dendroidal sets. Important concepts are illustrated with pictures and examples.The lecture series by Toën presents derived algebraic geometry. While classical algebraic geometry studies functors from the category of commutative rings to the category of sets, derived algebraic geometry is concerned with functors from simplicial commutative rings (to allow derived tensor products) to simplicial sets (to allow derived quotients). The central objects are derived (higher) stacks, which are functors satisfying a certain up-to-homotopy descent condition. These lectures provide a concise and focused introduction to this vast subject, glossing over many of the technicalities that make the subject's research literature so overwhelming.Both sets of lectures assume a working knowledge of model categories in the sense of Quillen. Integrating functions rather than measuring sets is posited as the main purpose of measure theory. From t…his point of view Lebesgue's integral can be had as a rather straightforward, even simplistic, extension of Riemann's integral; and its aims, definitions, and procedures can be motivated at an elementary level. The notion of measurability, for example, is suggested by Littlewood's observations rather than being conveyed authoritatively through definitions of (sigma)-algebras and good-cut-conditions, the latter of which are hard to justify and thus appear mysterious, even nettlesome, to the beginner. The approach taken provides the additional benefit of cutting the labor in half. The use of seminorms, ubiquitous in modern analysis, speeds things up even further. The book is intended for the reader who has some experience with proofs, a beginning graduate student for example. Gromov [17], is one of three general methods in immersion-theoretic topology for solving a broad range of problems in geometry and topology. The other methods ar…e: (i) Removal of Singularities, introduced by M. Gromov and Y. Eliashberg [8]; (ii) the covering homotopy method which, following M. Gromov's thesis [16], is also referred to as the method of sheaves. The covering homotopy method is due originally to S. Smale [36] who proved a crucial covering homotopy result in order to solve the classi cation problem for immersions of spheres in Euclidean space. These general methods are not linearly related in the sense that succ- sive methods subsumed the previous methods. Each method has its own distinct foundation, based on an independent geometrical or analytical insight. Con- quently, each method has a range of applications to problems in topology that are best suited to its particular insight. For example, a distinguishing feature of ConvexIntegrationtheoryisthatitappliestosolveclosed relationsinjetspaces, including certain general classes of underdetermined non-linear systems of par- 1 tial di erential equations. As a case of interest, the Nash-Kuiper C -isometric immersion theorem can be reformulated and proved using Convex Integration theory (cf. Gromov [18]). No such results on closed relations in jet spaces can be proved by means of the other two methods. On the other hand, many classical results in immersion-theoretic topology, such as the classi cation of immersions, are provable by all three methods. 213 pp. Englisch.

Exam…ples include etale cohomology and etale K-theory. This book gives new and complete proofs of both Thomason's descent theorem for Bott periodic K-theory and the Nisnevich descent theorem. In doing so, it exposes most of the major ideas of the homotopy theory of presheaves of spectra, and generalized etale homology theories in particular. The treatment includes, for the purpose of adequately dealing with cup product structures, a development of stable homotopy theory for n-fold spectra, which is then promoted to the level of presheaves of n-fold spectra. This book should be of interest to all researchers working in fields related to algebraic K-theory. The techniques presented here are essentially combinatorial, and hence algebraic. Auf den Internationalen Mathematikerkongressen in Paris (1900), Rom (1908), Straßburg (1920) und Bologna (1928) hält er Hauptvorträge. Er engagiert sich für die Entwicklung der Wissenschaften im vereinten Italien und wird 1905 zum Senator des Königreichs ernannt. Zu seinen vielfältigen außermathematischen Tätigkeiten gehört die Gründung des italienischen Nationalen Forschungsrates (Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche, CNR).Während des Ersten Weltkriegs ist er in der militärischen Forschung tätig. Nach dem Krieg bezieht er Stellung gegen den Faschismus, womit seine Ausgrenzung beginnt.1926 tritt er als Präsident der weltberühmten Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei zurück, später wird er aus der Akademie ausgeschlossen. 1931 ist er einer der wenigen Universitätslehrer, die den Treueid gegenüber dem faschistischen Regime verweigern. 1938 treffen ihn die Rassengesetze.
