They have been extensively described in several recent review papers. Leider hort jedoch das Verstandnis des Chemikers fur die Eigenschaften einer Substanz oft dort auf, wo sie fur einen Physiker interessant zu werden beginnen. Ein Grund hierfur liegt in einer 'Sprachbarriere' zwischen Physik und Chemie, da der Chemiker wichtige festkorperphysikalische Begriffe ent weder uberhaupt nicht kennt oder nur eine sehr verwaschene Vorstel lung von ihnen hat. Heute stehen wir in einem ProzeB der Veriinderung und des Umbruchs, da wir erfahren miissen, daB auch und gerade die Gestagene metabo lische Wirkungen besitzen. In dieser Situation ging von der CILAG GmbH die Initiative aus, ein Symposium zu veranstalten, das internationalem wissenschaftlichem Niveau gerecht zu sein hatte und ein Forum darstellen sollte, auf dem sich der praktizierende Gyniiko loge iiber die Entwicklung des Gebietes der Gestagen-Stoffwechselwirkungen informieren konnte.
