Aggiungi al carrelloTaschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. Neuware -Since the first edition of C++ for Scientists, Engineers and Mathematicians, many things have changed. Perhaps the most important is that the ANSI C++ Standard was approved in 1998. The first edition of this book was incompatible with some parts of the Standard and every effort has been made to rectify this. The facilities offered by the C++ language have also grown enormously since the first edition. It is not just the language itself that has grown, but the ANSI Standard also defines an extensive range of library facilities. I have also made two changes in emphasis since the first edition. Firstly, since there is so much important material to cover, some less important features of the language have been removed. The second change is to try to illustrate the language by means of complete programs, rather than code fragments. Hopefully, this will give you more confidence in applying new techniques. Finally, although C++ is a bigger language than it was, it is even more fun to use.Springer Verlag GmbH, Tiergartenstr. 17, 69121 Heidelberg 564 pp. Englisch.

Neuware -In 2001 AFIHM and the British HCI Group combined their annual conferences, bringing together the best features of each organisation's separate conference series, and providing a special opportunity for the French- and English-speaking HCI communities to interact. This volume contains the full papers presented at IHM-HCI 2001, the 15th annual conference of the British HCI group, a specialist group of the British Computer Society and the 14th annual conference of the Association Francophone d'interaction Homme-Machine, an independent association for any French-speaking person who is interested in Human-Computer Interaction.Human-Computer Interaction is a discipline well-suited to such a multi-linguistic and multi-cultural conference since it brings together researchers and practitioners from a variety of disciplines with very different ways of thinking and working. As a community we are already used to tackling the challenges of working across such boundaries, dealing with the problems and taking advantage of the richness of the resulting insights: interaction without frontiers. The papers presented in this volume cover all the main areas of HCI research, but also focus on considering the challenges of new applications addressing the following themes: Enriching HCI by crossing national, linguistic and cultural boundaries; Achieving greater co-operation between disciplines to deliver usable, useful and exciting design solutions; Benefiting from experience gained in other application areas; Transcending interaction constraints through the use of novel technologies; Supporting mobile users.Springer Verlag GmbH, Tiergartenstr. 17, 69121 Heidelberg 612 pp. Englisch.

Aggiungi al carrelloTaschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. Neuware -The area of networked learning (learning in which information and communications technology (ICT) is used to promote connections between people and resources) is wide and growing in importance, especially in further and higher education. It offers the opportunity to offer more flexible access to learning programmes over time and space, but not enough is yet known about exactly what it can offer and how best to ensure that institutions maintain and improve the quality of the learning experience. This book focuses on the key issues which anyone involved with the use, administration, or study of networked learning will need to know about. These include policy issues, the costs of networked learning, staff development issues, and the student experience. With contributions from authors based in Europe and the US and Australia, it offers a global perspective which is designed to inform professional practice and its administration. It will be essential reading for practitioners and researchers in higher education and learning technology and will be of interest to policy-makers and managers in HE academic administration. It will also be relevant to learning technologists and support staff, who may not have direct involvement with teaching but still need to understand the opportunities and issues presented by networked learning, and also to students and researchers in education and social science. He was thinking about machine intelligence at least as early as 1941 and during the war cir culated a typewritten paper on machine intelligence among his colleagues at the Government Code and Cypher School (GC & CS), Bletchley Park. Now lost, this was undoubtedly the earliest paper in the field of AI. It probably concerned machine learning and heuristic problem-solving; both were topics that Turing discussed extensively during the war years at GC & CS, as was mechanical chess [121]. In 1945, the war in Europe over, Turing was recruited by the National Physical Laboratory (NPL)! in London, his brief to design and develop an electronic stored-program digital computer-a concrete form of the universal Turing machine of 1936 [185]. Turing's technical report 'Proposed Electronic 2 Calculator' , dating from the end of 1945 and containing his design for the Automatic Computing Engine (ACE), was the first relatively complete spec ification of an electronic stored-program digital computer [193,197]. (The document 'First Draft of a Report on the EDVAC', produced by John von Neumann and the Moore School group at the University of Pennsylvania in May 1945, contained little engineering detail, in particular concerning elec tronic hardware [202].Springer Verlag GmbH, Tiergartenstr. 17, 69121 Heidelberg 228 pp. Englisch.

Aggiungi al carrelloBuch. Condizione: Neu. Neuware -In the usual process of control system design, the assumption is made that the controller is implemented exactly. This assumption is usually reasonable, since clearly, the plant uncertainty is the most significant source of uncertainty in the control system, while controllers are implemented with high-precision hardware. However, inevitably, there will be some amount of uncertainty in the controller, a fact that is largely ignored in existing modern advanced robust control techniques. If the controller is implemented by analogue means, there are some tolerances in the analogue components. More commonly, the controller will be implemented digitally, and consequently there will be uncertainty involved with the quantization in the analogue-digital conversion and rounding in the parameter representation and in the numerical computations. A failure to account for these uncertainties in the controller may result in a controller that is 'fragile'. A controller is fragile in the sense that very small perturbations in the coefficients of the designed controller destabilize the closed-loop control system. This book collects a number of articles which consider the problems of finite-precision computing in digital controllers and filters. Written by leading researchers, topics that the book covers include: analysis of fragility and finite-precision effects; design of optimal controller realizations; design of non-fragile robust controllers; design of low-complexity digital controllers; analysis of quantization effects in fuzzy controllers.Springer Verlag GmbH, Tiergartenstr. 17, 69121 Heidelberg 300 pp. Englisch.

While standard feedback control alone cannot handle these nonsmooth nonlinearities effectively, this book shows how such nonlinear characteristics can be compensated for by using adaptive and intelligent control techniques. This allows desired system performance to be achieved in the presence of uncertain nonlinearities. With surveys of literature and summaries of various design methods, the contributors present new solutions to some important issues in adaptive control of systems with various sorts of nonsmooth nonlinearities. The book motivates more research activities in the field of adaptive control of nonsmooth nonlinear industrial systems by formulating several challenging open problems in related areas.Springer Verlag GmbH, Tiergartenstr. 17, 69121 Heidelberg 432 pp. Englisch.

It now includes all the recent developments in C++ . Amongst its novel features is that no knowledge of programming is assumed. It is as much for the beginner in programming as it is for the newcomer to C++. Plenty of relevant examples are included throughout the book, most of which are slanted towards numerical applications, and it is this bias that makes it unique in its field and of particular interest to those who have to work with figures. 564 pp. Englisch.

Neuware -The series Advances in Industrial Control aims to report and encourage technology transfer in control engineering. The rapid development of control technology has an impact on all areas of the control discipline. New theory, new controllers, actuators, sensors, new industrial processes, computer methods, new applications, new philosophies . . . , new challenges. Much of this development work resides in industrial reports, feasibility study papers and the reports of advanced collaborative projects. The series otTers an opportunity for researchers to present an extended exposition of such new work in all aspects of industrial control for wider and rapid dissemination. The time for nonlinear control to enter routine application seems to be approaching. Nonlinear control has had a long gestation period but much ofthe past has been concerned with methods that involve formal nonlinear functional model representations. It seems more likely that the breakthough will come through the use of other more flexible and amenable nonlinear system modelling tools. This Advances in Industrial Control monograph by Guoping Liu gives an excellent introduction to the type of new nonlinear system modelling methods currently being developed and used. Neural networks appear prominent in these new modelling directions. The monograph presents a systematic development of this exciting subject. It opens with a useful tutorial introductory chapter on the various tools to be used. In subsequent chapters Doctor Liu leads the reader through identification, and then onto nonlinear control using nonlinear system neural network representations.Springer Verlag GmbH, Tiergartenstr. 17, 69121 Heidelberg 232 pp. Englisch.
