Since establishing the CFSP in the 1990s, the European Union (EU) has showed its enthusiasm for glo…bal leadership, empowering European citizenship, and developing its international standing as an economic and political supranational organization. In particular, the book examines the EU's peacekeeping and conflict resolution dynamics in order to analyze the political and security dimensions of the EU. It argues that, due to the loose collective foreign policy and inter-bloc dilemmas, the EU has failed to perform as an actor of substance in international politics. However, at the regional level, the EU's peacekeeping efforts have enjoyed considerable success. The book further explains the dynamics of successful (regional) and unsuccessful (extra-regional) peacekeeping and conflict resolution efforts on the part of the EU with the help of a case study. It considers how transactions take place at the clinical level as well as their regulation. Analysing the practice from the perspe…ctives of institutions and power structure, it examines how institutional changes in the pre-reform and reform era have changed the power structure between medical professions, patients and the Party-state, and how these changes have given rise and perpetuate the practice. Drawing from qualitative data from interviews of medical professionals, the author recognises the medical profession as a major player in the health care system and presents their perception of the practice as the taker of 'red packets' and their interactions with the patient and the state surrounding the illegal practice in an authoritarian power structure. The books considers the institutional reasons that motivate doctors to take, patients to give, and the government to 'tolerate' red packets, arguing that the bureaucratization of the medical profession, society of acquaintances and shortage of quality of medical services jointly create an institutional setting that has given rise to these informal payments. Contributing to a rounded understanding of the problems of healthcare reform in China, this book is a key read for all scholars interested in the issue of informal payments and healthcare politics in transition economies. 300 pp. Englisch.

The driver of eruptive solar events such as flares and coronal mass ejections, magnetic reconnection is also the process by which energy is transferred from the solar wind to Earth's magnetosphere. Flying in a tetrahedral formation, the four identically instrumented MMS spacecraft measure the plasma, electric and magnetic fields, and energetic particles in the regions of geospace where magnetic reconnection is expected to occur. With interspacecraft distances varying from 400 km to 10 km and instruments capable of making extremely fast measurements (30 ms for electrons), MMS has the spatial and temporal resolution needed to resolve for the first time the microphysics of the electron diffusion region. Here, the magnetic field and the plasma become decoupled, allowing reconnection to occur. During the first of its two mission phases, MMS targets the dayside magnetopause, where the interplanetary and terrestrial magnetic fields reconnect. In the second phase, MMS increases its apogee from 12 RE to 25 RE and probes the nightside magnetosphere, where energy stored in the stretched field lines of the magnetotail is explosively released in magnetospheric substorms. Launched in March 2015 into a low-inclination elliptical orbit, MMS is now in Phase 1 of science operations.This volume, which describes the MMS mission design, observatories, instrumentation, and operations, is aimed at researchers and graduate students in magnetospheric physics and plasma physics. Foremost, it explores the impact of specific institutional and organizational reorientations and changing urban spatial landscapes at the local level; secondly, it discusses the socio-economic implications of rollback of the state and involvement of non-state organizations in governance as part of urban entrepreneurialism; further, it discusses the regulation of urban development projects by local governments and the impact of 'entrepreneurial governance' for citizens, often resulting in social exclusion and inequality. The EM analysis is carried out for (i) rectangular microwave ovens and (ii) hybrid-cylindrical microwave autoclaves at 2.45… GHz. The field distribution is first estimated inside domestic rectangular ovens in xy-, yz-, and zx-plane. Further, the RF leakage from the oven door is determined to study the effect of leakage radiation on wireless communication at 2.45 GHz. Furthermore, the EM analysis of the autoclave is carried out based on 3D FDTD using staircase approximation. In order to show the capability of autoclaves (excited with five source) for curing the aerospace components and materials, the field distribution inside autoclave cavity is studied in presence of aerospace samples. In the part dealing with the principle, after a brief intro…duction of ordinary PCA, a PCA for categorical data (nominal and ordinal) is introduced as nonlinear PCA, in which an optimal scaling technique is used to quantify the categorical variables. The alternating least squares (ALS) is the main algorithm in the method. Multiple correspondence analysis (MCA), a special case of nonlinear PCA, is also introduced. All formulations in these methods are integrated in the same manner as matrix operations. Because any measurement levels data can be treated consistently as numerical data and ALS is a very powerful tool for estimations, the methods can be utilized in a variety of fields such as biometrics, econometrics, psychometrics, and sociology. In the applications part of the book, four applications are introduced: variable selection for mixed measurement levels data, sparse MCA, joint dimension reduction and clustering methods for categorical data, and acceleration of ALS computation. The variable selection methods in PCA that originally were developed for numerical data can be applied to any types of measurement levels by using nonlinear PCA. Sparseness and joint dimension reduction and clustering for nonlinear data, the results of recent studies, are extensions obtained by the same matrix operations in nonlinear PCA. Finally, an acceleration algorithm is proposed to reduce the problem of computational cost in the ALS iteration in nonlinear multivariate methods. This book thus presents the usefulness of nonlinear PCA which can be applied to different measurement levels data in diverse fields. As well, it covers the latest topics including the extension of the traditional statistical method, newly proposed nonlinear methods, and computational efficiency in the methods. 80 pp. Englisch.
