Neuware -The present text originated with the intention of writing a brief reply to Feyerabend's detailed discussion of my book The Structure and Dynamics of Theories. For reasons explained in the Introduction this turned out to be an impossibl…e undertaking. What resulted was a self-contained new approach to the structuralist view, combined with an attempt to bring it up to date by including a report on the latest developments. As matters stand it would have been unreasonable and unfair of me to ask the editors of The British Journal for the Philosophy of Science to publish this text which exceeds by far the size of an average essay. Thus, a separate publication seemed advisable. I am deeply indebted to Springer-Verlag for making this publication possible. Dabei lassen sich bei einem derartigen System sämtliche abgegebenen Wärmemengen sowohJ im energetischen als auch im betriebswirtschaf…tlichen Sinne als absolute Gewinne verbuchen, da fast der gesamte elektrische Energieeinsatz auch zur reinen Eiserzeugung erforderlich wäre. Eine leistungs- und auch energiemäßige Abstimmung von Wärmeangebot und Wärmebedarf läßt sich jedoch nur über zusätzliche, bedarfweise zuschaltbare Wärmeverbraucher bzw. Wärmequellen oder Wärmespeicher erreichen, da an sehr kalten Wintertagen ein Defizit und an warmen Tagen ein Uber schuß an Abwärme besteht. Bei der beschriebenen Anlage läßt sich dies durch die zusätzlichen Sy stemkomponenten Freibad und Erdreich erreichen. Bei Nutzung des Erdreichs ergibt sich sowohl bei Betrieb mit Wärmeeinspeisung als auch bei Wär meentzug ein energetisch günstigerer Betrieb, d.h. höhere ArbeitszahJen. Dabei arbeitet das Erdreich während eines Zeitraums von I - 2 Monaten als nahezu verlustfreier Speicher, zumindest solange der Wärmeeintrag in die verschiedenen Wärmetauschersysteme so reguliert wird, daß die Temperatur der oberflächennahen Schichten die mittlere Außentemperatur nicht übersteigt. Bei der gegebenen Anlagenkonzeption erwies sich somit eine Betriebsweise als äusserst günstig, die im Frühjahr bei steigenden Außentemperaturen einen Abbau des Abwärmeüberschusses durch Speiche rung im Erdreich vorsieht und diese Wärme zur leistungs- und energiebedarfsmäßig sehr intensiven erstmaligen Freibadaufheizung wieder entzieht.Springer-Verlag KG, Sachsenplatz 4-6, 1201 Wien 176 pp. Deutsch.

Die gegenwartige Forschung in der statistischen Thermodynamik beschaftigt sich mehr mit kooperativen Phanomenen, zeitabhangigen und irreversiblen Prozessen. Es schien mir aus mehreren GrUnden der MUhe wert, die MolekUl statistik als eigentlich 'chemische' Statistik trotz ihrer Be schrankung auf ideale Gase fUr einen Hochschultext zu behandeln: In der produzierenden Chemie ist ein deutlicher Trend zu beobachten, immer mehr Reaktionen aus der flUssigen Phase in die Gasphase zu verlegen. Haufig kann man dort sogar trotz schlechterer Ausbeuten wirtschaftlicher arbeiten als in der F1Ussigphase. Bei solchen Ver fahren werden immer haufiger MolekUle auftreten, deren thermody namische Daten nicht aus Tabellen entnommen werden konnen. Dies gilt ganz besonders dann, wenn bei der Syntheseplanung auch Zwi schenstufen in die Oberlegungen einbezogen werden, die vielleicht nur hypothetischen Charakter haben.
