Naturally, we searched the published Iiterature for…solutions to these problems but whenever we failed to find a solution or when the solution did not satisfy us, we attempted to solve the problern ourselves. We realized that other investigators working in the physics of high pres sures would probably encounter the same problems and doubts. Therefore, we decided to write this book in order to save our colleagues time and effort. Apart from the descriptions of ex perimental methods, the book deals only with those problems which we encountered in our own work. Allproblems in high-pressure physics have, at present, only approximate solutions, which are very rough. Therefore, it is not surprising that different investigators approach the same problems in different ways. Our approach does not prejudge the issue and we are fully aware that there are other points of view. Our aim was always to solve a glven problern on a physical basis. For example, the concept of the Grüneisenparameter needs further develop ment but it is based on reliable physical ideas. On the other hand, Simon's equation for the melting curve has, in our opinion, no clear physical basis and is purely empirical. Equations of this type are useful in systematic presentation of the experimental material but they are un suitable for any major extrapolation. 268 pp. Englisch.

The presence of chronic illness and other medical problems certainly can influence the expression of an aging adult¿s sexuality, and emergent research suggests that there are effective ways to cope with menopause, heart disease, arthritis, incontinence, diabetes, sleep disorders, breast cancer, prostate cancer, and erectile dysfunction (ED), among others. Dramatic changes have taken place within the last decade alone in terms of non-surgical treatment for incontinence and ED, with forms of sex therapy, biofeedback, and PDE-5 inhibitors. Regrettably, many aging adults and their care providers remain unaware of their increased risk factors for STDs, including HIV infection via lack of knowledge, changes in the vaginal lining, and typical declines in immune function. Estimates suggest that by the year 2020, more than half of all individuals living with HIV will be over the age of 50. Although some high quality professional books are available for clinicians, they tend to be disjointed research bibliographies, edited volumes on a narrowly focused aspect of elderly sexuality, or texts that are more than 10 years old. Increasingly however there has been a renewed interest in finding more ecologically sustainable means of development that… have required a strong foundation in ecological knowledge (for example EcoAgriculture Partnerships, EcoHealth presented at ESA, and EcoNutrition proposed by Deckelbaum et al). Each of these examples has already taken the critical first step at integrating ecological knowledge with agriculture, health and nutrition, respectively. However, this is only the first step; more attention needs to be placed not only on the role that two fields can play towards poverty alleviation, but on the role of a truly integrated, interdisciplinary approach towards development goals that is firmly grounded in ecological understanding. We feel that a critical look at what ecology can and cannot provide to the development agenda, in light of the Millennium Development goals, is timely and crucial. The introduction and the final section of the book will then integrate the lessons and principles outlined in each of the chapters. Findings also suggest that DNA methylation may be important in regulating the expression of many miRNAs in several cancer initiating cells. Several miRNAs are known to either upregulated or downregulated in CSCs when compared to non-cancerous cells from the same tissues.
