At that time, reports on the practice effects associated with routinely utilized clinical neuropsychological instruments were sparse. While tes…t-retest data were available for almost all assessment instruments, this was usually in the form of correlation coefficients and not changes in mean performance between or across assessment periods (see McCaffrey & Westervelt, 1995 for a detailed discussion of these and related issues). Clinical neuropsychological practitioners had few guidelines to assist them in determining if a change in a patient's performance across assessments was due to an intervention, maturation, practice effects, or a combination of factors. This volume represents our efforts at reviewing the literature between 1970 and 1998 and extracting the reported information on practice effects. The tables include the assessment instrument used, information on the subject/patient groups, the sample size (n}, gender, age, intervention, interval between the assessments, scores at both assessment points, and the citation. Those studies that reported data on more than two assessment points are indicated by a notation~ however, any data beyond the second assessment are not reported and the interested reader should refer to the original article. The tables are arranged alphabetically for the most widely used assessment instruments. Those instruments for which there was limited data on practice effects are grouped by 'domain' (e. g.

Having said that, much of what is covered in this book is far more general: The above merely describes our driving interests. The central emphasis of this book is that segmentation involves model fitting. We believe this to be true either implicitly (as a conscious or sub conscious guiding principle of those who develop various approaches) or explicitly. What makes model-fitting in computer vision especially hard There are a number of factors involved in answering this question. The amount of data involved is very large. The number of segments and types (models) are not known in advance (and can sometimes rapidly change over time). The sensors we have involve the introduction of noise. Usually, we require fast ('real-time' or near real-time) computation of solutions independent of any human intervention/supervision. This means that analog circuits will have to coexist on the same substrate along with massive digital systems. Since technologies are optimized with these…digital systems in mind, designers will have to make do with standard CMOS processes in the years to come. We address analog filter design from this perspective. Filters form important blocks in applications ranging from computer disc-drive chips to radio transceivers. In this book, we develop the theory and techniques necessary for the implementation of high frequency (hundreds of megahertz) programmable continuous time filters in standard CMOS processes. Since high density poly-poly capacitors are not available in these technologies, alternative capacitor structures have to be found. Met- metal capacitors have low specific capacitance. An alternative is to use the (inherently nonlinear) capacitance formed by MOSFET gates. In Chapter 2, we focus on the use of MOS capacitors as integrating elements. A physics-based model which predicts distortion accurately is presented for a two-terminal MOS structure in accumulation. Distortion in these capacitors as a function of signal swing and bias voltage is computed. Chapter 3 reviews continuous-time filter architectures in the light of bias-dependent integrating capacitors. We also discuss the merits and demerits of various CMOS transconductance elements.
