Buch. Condizione: Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -This book focuses on methods for service-differentiated and constraint-based wavelength routing and resource allocation for multi-service WDM networks. A number of unique routing solutions are proposed, and an extensive analysis of dynamically re-configurable multi-service WDM networks impart the major contribution to the current efforts in standardisation and network operation. 260 pp. Englisch.

Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -The model for this work was the description of the physical world by mathemati cal laws. It were always the simplest phenomena which were treated by this scientific method. Physicists studied simple motions inorder to find the mathematical laws. Astronomists observed the orbits of planets in order to find the laws of gravity. One of the simplest measurable phenomenon in the brain is the stimulus response task. Suchtasks have beenknown since the lastcentury bypsychiatrists and psycholo gists (v. Helmholtz). There existsa vast literature about the measurement and theory of simple reaction tasks and various choice reaction tasks, visualor auditory. They have beenmeasured and havebeendescribedmathematically. One of the firstmodels for the reaction times used a logarithmic function. But many intriguing questions remained open aboutreaction tasks especiallythe neural explanation ofthe findings. The new tool to investigate the neural structure of stimulus-response sequences was the computer. Now it was possible to measure the reaction times by using spe cial programs, to compute the elementary times and the pathway structures from these reaction times, to evaluate the results statistically, to simulate the results, and to write this text. It was this instrument which permitted to save large amounts of data and evaluate them by special software written for this purpose. Thus it was possible to compute the time quanta and the pathways and to understand each re action time as an integer multiple of this time quantum (plus a constant value). 380 pp. Englisch.

Buch. Condizione: Neu. This item is printed on demand - Print on Demand Titel. Neuware -The need to establish wavelength-routed connections in a service-differentiated fash ion is becoming increasingly important due to a variety of candidate client networks (e. g. IP, SDH/SONET, ATM) and the requirements for Quality-of-Service (QoS) de livery within transport layers. Up until now, the criteria for optical network design and operation have usually been considered independently of the higher-layer client signals (users), i. e. without taking into account particular requirements or constraints originating from the users' differentiation. Wavelength routing for multi-service net works with performance guarantees, however, will have to do with much more than finding a path and allocating wavelengths. The optimisation of wavelength-routed paths will have to take into account a number of user requirements and network con straints, while keeping the resource utilisation and blocking probability as low as pos sible. In a networking scenario where a multi-service operation in WDM networks is assumed, while dealing with heterogeneous architectures (e. g. technology-driven, as transparent, or regenerative), efficient algorithms and protocols for QoS-differentiated and dynamic allocation of physical resources will playa key role. This work examines the development of multi-criteria wavelength routing for WDM networks where a set of performances is guaranteed to each client network, taking into account network properties and physical constraints. 260 pp. Englisch.

Buch. Condizione: Neu. This item is printed on demand - Print on Demand Titel. Neuware -Endoscopic microsurgery is a developing technique in plastic surgery. There are many advantages over traditional methods: improved access to difficult and hidden areas, better mobility, one optical instrument for endoscopic dissection and the microsurgical part, reduced overall costs, and a possibility to develop new procedures supported by the use of the endoscope. In the first volume of the series 'Update in Plastic Surgery¿ internationally acknowledged experts give an up-to-date view of the clinical possibilities in plastic surgery which result from video-assisted microsurgery with the endoscope. Advantages and disadvantages are discussed, and reasons are presented why it can be assumed that this technique will be the standard in plastic surgery within a few years.Springer Verlag GmbH, Tiergartenstr. 17, 69121 Heidelberg 156 pp. Englisch.

Buch. Condizione: Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -This series provides a presentation of the latest scientific developments in plastic surgery and fills the gaps of existing publications in this field. On the basis of one volume per year, the aims are threefold: First, the contents of each volume will concentrate on a single topic; a topic that is either new in plastic surgery or is undergoing significant changes. Second, the relatively narrow topic chosen as subject matter for each volume will be described and discussed in all its facets. Authors will be selected for their competence in the selected field, and their contributions will represent the most up-to-date view either based on individual research or on their experience and ideas in the operating theatre. Third, this series aims to represent plastic surgery being carried out within Europe in a manner that testifies not only to its traditional role but also to the innovative nature within an international context of the work being done. When conflicting opinions ari se, these will also be presented in order to offer a complete and representative overview. However, the aim will still be to present as far as possible a clear up-to-date picture of the subject discussed so that a reliable guideline based on the latest research is given. 156 pp. Englisch.

Buch. Condizione: Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -The volumes of this classic series, now referred to simply as 'Zechmeister' after its founder, L. Zechmeister, have appeared under the Springer Imprint ever since the series' inauguration in 1938. The volumes contain contributions on various topics related to the origin, distribution, chemistry, synthesis, biochemistry, function or use of various classes of naturally occurring substances ranging from small molecules to biopolymers. Each contribution is written by a recognized authority in his field and provides a comprehensive and up-to-date review of the topic in question. Addressed to biologists, technologists, and chemists alike, the series can be used by the expert as a source of information and literature citations and by the non-expert as a means of orientation in a rapidly developing discipline. 332 pp. Englisch.
