Instability phenomena of inelastic flow processes such as strain localization and necking are discussed.The second theme concerns stability and bifurcation problems in internally damaged or cracked colids. In brittle fracture or brittle damage, the evolution law of crack lengths or damage parameters is time-independent like in plasticity and leads to a similar mathematical description of the quasi-static evolution. Stability and non-bifurcation criteria in the sense of Hill can be again obtained from the discussion of the rate response. 300 pp. Englisch.

This book is about the translation of programs written in a high level programming language into machine code. It deals with all the major aspects of compilation systems (including a lot of examples and exercises), and was outlined for a one session course on compilers. The book can be used both as a teacher's reference and as a student's text book. In contrast to some other books on that topic, this text is rather concentrated to the point. However, it treats all aspects which are necessary to understand how compilation systems will work. Chapter One gives an introductory survey of compilers. Different types of compilation systems are explained, a general compiler environment is shown, and the principle phases of a compiler are introduced in an informal way to sensitize the reader for the topic of compilers. 192 pp. Englisch.

The spatiotemporal structure of the evoked response was studied with novel biophysical modeling techniques which allowed identification of the three-dimensional intracerebral location, time activity, and interaction of the neuronal sources in human somatosensory cortex. Thus, new aspects on the functional anatomy of the human somatosensory cortex could be elicited. Furthermore, the somatotopy of the hand somatosensory cortex was investigated. Clinically, the results of comparison of the different techniques can improve the non-invasive localization criteria for primary motor and somatosensory cortex which is important in patients undergoing neurosurgical procedure adjacent to central fissure. Die funktionelle Organisation und Somatotopik des menschlichen somatosensorischen Kortex wurde mittels kortikaler Stimulationen und mittels somatosensorisch evozierter Potentiale in der Elektrokortikographie, im Oberflächen-EEG und in der Magnetoencephalographie - einer neuen neurophysiologischen Methode - untersucht.
