Paperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. 1 Lecture, Cologne, December 25, 1907 In this lecture, given on Christmas day, Rudolf Steiner reflects on the deep mysteries of the events surrounding Christ's incarnation, death, and resurrection on Earth. The foundation of his message was the three magi from the East and Goethe's poem "The Mysteries," told from the perspective of a kind of archetypal pilgrim of esoteric Christianity: "Here, in Goethe's poem, we have a wonderful phenomenon. We encounter a person who, in the simplest childlike words, not spoken out of his intellect and formed ideas, imparts to us the highest wisdom, the fruits, of his previous cognitions. He has transformed these cognitions into feelings and sentiments, and has, therefore, been called to lead others who may even have learned more conceptually. Such a pilgrim with a mature soul who has transformed into immediate feeling and sentiment much of what he had collected as knowledge in prior incarnations.such a pilgrim do we have before us in the person of Brother Marcus. As a member of a secret Brotherhood he is sent out with an important mission to another secret Brotherhood."Die and be born - overcome what has been given to you originally in your three lower bodies. Kill it off, but don't kill it to wish death, but to purify what exists in the three bodies, so that you can conquer in the 'I' the power to reach more and more perfection. By killing off what has been given in the three lower bodies, the 'I' gains the power of perfecting. In the 'I' the Christ shall, within the Christ principle, take up the power of perfecting, even into the blood. Even into the blood shall the power be effective." This lecture was translated from Natur- und Geisteswesen - ihr Wirken in unserer sichtbaren Welt (CW 98) Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.

She gets greater and greater in my eyes as I grow older." -- Thomas MertonJulian of Norwich (1342-c1416) is considered by many to be one of the greatest English mystics. In 1373, she received a series of sixteen visions centred on the person and sufferings of Jesus, and on the Trinity. A short time later, she wrote an account of them and much later, after prayer and reflection, wrote eighty-six chapters called Showings of Divine Love. The times in which Julian lived were fraught with political, social, and economic upheavals in both Church and state. There are, indeed, many parallels to the present age. This helps to explain why Julian speaks so loudly to us today after six hundred years of silence. This gem of a book offers insightful and challenging thoughts on Julian's writings which will aid devotion and provide inspiration for prayer and meditation.

Massimo Scaligero (190680) was a student of Zen, of Yoga, and of his spiritual science of Rudolf Steiner, but he came to independent conclusions based on his direct spiritual experience. In this philosophical work, Scaligero presents a way of experiencing the world that can lead to an experience of our inner essence, which, he argues, the spirit demands of us today.

This book is a magical collection of seven bedtime stories for 6 to 9 year olds -- one story for each night of the week, each featuring one of the seven colours of the rainbow. The stories are all new, yet have a timeless, dreamy quality to them, which is perfect for sleepy night-time reading. The seven stories form a harmonious circle: the first story features a small girl wearing a dress as white as the stars, who discovers a casket of jewels in a forest of blue trees. In the last story, a pink butterfly flutters from an old woman's garden to a hut in the woods, where a girl in a white dress sleeps. In between are a host of other wonderful characters, including a red bird whose song inspires dreams, a boy with a golden flower, an astrologer who paints stars from his purple tower, fish that transport raindrop-jewels to an underwater sea cave, and a mother and baby possum who discover a mysterious green sanctuary.Parents and children alike will delight in the vivid imagery in these enchanting tales, which lead the imagination from the clear outlines of the waking world into the elusive realm of dreams.

As yet there is no definitive consensus as to why this is, or what it means about the world in which we live. Neverthless, parents and educators are being faced with challenges they did not foresee, and are often ill-equipped to address. Steiner-Waldorf education is based on the principle of seeing every child as an individual -- nothing is 'normal' or 'abnormal'; labelling children doesn't help. Drawing on the ideas of Rudolf Steiner's pioneering Curative Education course, this book goes back to basics and examines the potential benefits of this unique educational approach in today's classrooms. Robyn Brown, an experienced teacher, argues that it can lead to calmer, more productive learning spaces and children who develop into rounded individuals, ready to become responsible and creative citizens. At a time when even longtime experienced educators are struck by how the dynamics of their classrooms have changed, this is a much needed reminder of a tried and tested approach which can work for every child, and ultimately for a society.

Every spiritual practice, every exercise of consciousness, all meditation -- indeed, every moment of true awareness -- we do with the 'gentle will', even if we are unaware of it initially and cannot fully activate it yet. Through practice, however, the gentle will begins to shine, and we gradually gain the ability to access it in our ordinary, daily activities, allowing our lives to become infinitely richer, meaningful and creative. The gentle will is relaxed, receptive, expressive, creative, soft, light and playful. It is not rigid or cramped. We use the gentle will in artistic activities such as playing a musical instrument, writing a poem, or painting a picture. In today's world, however, life is governed by the principles of usefulness, utility, comfort, and efficiency -- the hard will of egoism. Georg Kühlewind writes in this book that the only hope he sees of avoiding global destruction is a change in human consciousness; the 'hard will' must become the 'gentle will'. To this end, he provides exercises through which we may transform the hard will into the gentle will.

This book offers a refreshing new English transation by Dr Sit, alongside in-depth analysis. The theme of the book is how to practice the 'perfection of wisdom'. Dr Sit uses metaphor, stories, illustrations, Buddhist scripture, relevant Taoist texts and anthroposophical teachings to explore the text. She draws sometimes surprising connections between Buddhism and esoteric Christianity, and between Buddha Gautama and the young Jesus. Her commentary on this timeless text will bring profound insight to those new to The Heart Sutra, as well as to those who have studied and practiced Buddhism for many years.

He was born in Cape Town in 1829 and died near London in 1888. He left behind some twenty books, including novels, travel accounts, and mystical spiritual writings. He was diplomat, traveler, adventurer, writer, and mystic. At the beginning of the 1860s, the period of Oliphant's great spiritual transition began when he met the Swedenborgian Thomas Lake Harris. It was Oliphant's last works, Sympneumata and Scientific Religion, that prompted Rudolf Steiner to pursue karmic research on Oliphant. As a result, Steiner revealed the karmic relationship between the lives of Oliphant and the Roman poet Ovid. In an August 24, 1924, lecture in London, Steiner commented that Oliphant's individuality is significant not only because of the previous Ovid incarnation, but because of its activity in the interval between the two incarnations. Looked at in the light of spiritual research on the subject, Oliphant's life assumes dimensions of world-historical interest. When a Stone Begins to Roll contains extensive selections from Oliphant's autobiographical book, Episodes in a Life of Adventure; or, Moss from a Rolling Stone (1887). In addition to the insightful commentary of T.H. Meyer, the book also offers a generous sampling of Oliphant's complex and compelling work, as well as hitherto unpublished material and the satire 'The Sisters of Tibet'.

"We, the people of the fifth post-Atlantean period.we have to resolve, to the greatest extent possible and in a way that is filled with the power of life, the problem that one can call the problem of evil. I ask you to think about this in some depth. The fact that evil, which will approach the human being of the fifth post-Atlantean period in every possible form and will do this in such a way that the human being will have to resolve the very nature and being of evil scientifically, will have to come to grips, in all his or her loving and hating, with everything that stems from evil, and battle and wrestle with evil's resistance to impulses of the will; all this belongs to the task of the fifth post-Atlantean period." -- Rudolf Steiner, Goethe's Faust in the Light of Anthroposophy, p. 85)The two essays published here were written on the basis of lectures given to members of the School for Spiritual Science. Their content therefore deals directly with the path of inner development outlined in the lessons of the First Class of the School. In the first essay, Selg address the necessary confrontation with the powers of evil as they appear in the Class Lessons and in our time more broadly. Only through confronting and overcoming these powers are we able to find the path to our true humanity. The second essay deals with the figure of the Guardian of the Threshold as a Michaelic teacher and guide along the soul's path into the spiritual world. This figure, Selg argues, is far too little understood in our time. He is a spiritual being of great significance who offers help to all earnest seekers. This book represents an ongoing effort on the part of Peter Selg and the leaders of the General Anthroposophical Section at the Goetheanum to deepen and internalize the work with the Class Lessons for all members of the School for Spiritual Science. This book is comprised of translations of texts originally published in German by Verlag des Ita Wegman Instituts: Die Auseinandersetzung mit dem Bösen: Zur Schulung der « Ersten Klasse ». Hochschulvorträge Band 1 (2019); Die Sprache des Hüters: Zur Schulung der « Ersten Klasse ».
