Soft cover. Condizione: New. FRIEDLANDER, SHEMS Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi's forgotten message. Istanbul: Sufi Kitap, 2017. 8vo., 237, [3] p., 16 b/w plates. Paperback. New ISBN: 9786059778459 CATALOG: Islamica KEYWORDS: Tasavvuf - Islamic mysticism - Sufism Islamic culture Mevlana Mevlevi order of dervishes The cure for our spiritual amnesia is the integration of Rumi's lessons into daily life. There is a need to understand Islam in contemporary times. Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi is deeply rooted in the prophetic tradition. Rumi is the most populer poet of our age yet is almost completely misunderstood and misinterpreted in the popular culture. Within his Mesnevi, The Signs of the Unseen, and his other work, is the 'Forgotten Message' that can awaken one to the purpose of life. Today, when so many would like to read Rumi and remove any reference to Sufism and Islam, Shems Friedlander places him unequivocally within Sufism and the Heart of Islam, clearly and emphatically stating the necessity of studying Rumi in his essence, as a Sufi saint, the founder of the Mevlevi Order of Dervishes, as well as one of the greatest metaphysical poets and literary figures the world has known. Friedlander sheds new light on the relationship of Shems and Rumi and offers a theory about Shems' disappearance not previously voiced. We are the heirs of Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi. How will we treat this inheritance? Will we squander it among those who have been deceived by the world? Argue its validity with scholars in classrooms and teahouses; or will we feed yearning hearts, enhance the intellectual desires of youth, and fill the gap of disappointment of those who have reached maturity and seniority and are still empty.…

Soft cover. Condizione: New. Paperback. Demy 8vo. (21 x 14 cm). In English. 319 p. Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi and sufism:: A dervish's logbook. Sufism is a long journey through which the wayfarer, the salik in Sufi terminology, passes seven stages of the soul under the guidance of his master, murshid. In Sufi parables, this process is associated with a voyage to which the sailors begin reciting God's name. The navigation in this work, however, is the one of a boat belongs to the wayfarer who sail to the spiritual waters, towards God, towards Oneness with the Universe. Through God is the route. To feel Him is the gift, the destination is spirit or the inner man inside the wayfarer. Indeed, the whole voyage is a story of self-realization. This process is strictly adhered to a special form of education, "the education of love". Here, the dervish is the one who comprehends the inattention he is in and contemplates this journey whose every stop with one beautiful name of God contains the metamorphoses within the spirit. This intuition acquired via this indispensable guidance within the scope of Qur'an and the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad is precious because of the fact that the twenty-first century man suffers without being aware of what underlying factors reside on the grounds of his woe. Since therefore, such souls become anxious, nervous and burden both themselves and the society they live in. Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi and Sufism is a book of dialog between the guide and the aspiring disciple in the directions of Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi's Masnavi and the teachings of other masters. …
