A key reference with more than 90 illustrations including nearly 80 full page plates, about half in beautiful full color [This is a much better made book than the Martino reprint which reproduces this volume's gorgeous color plates in B/W]. The useful 95-page Catalogue Raisonnà identifies title, author, date and city of publication, format, other editions, how many plates in each volume, and gives detailed descriptions of prints including their measurements, artist, graphic process used, etc. Most entries are annotated, many extensively. Top edge gilt. Bound in the original bevel-edged oatmeal cloth, stamped in bright gold over an inset green octagon on the front cover and over a brown leather spine panel. Aggiungi al carrelloA disjointed compilation of essays, poems and prayers beginning with the titular essay describing a program to send all Negroes and mongrels to African colonies in order to keep the white race pure. In this essay, Degman maintains that enslaved African Americans were the descendants of Israelites who "Satan was permitted to lead… astray.into the African jungles to become wild Negro cannibals" (p. 12). Other topics include the threat of Roman Catholicism, the need to restructure the Ku Klux Klan (of which the author was a member for eight years), ending Prohibition, America's failing economy under FDR, Kentucky mountain feuds, and many other unrelated subjects. The book concludes with poems, pithy sayings, and prayers, all seemingly written by the author. Degman references James Deson Sayers' book, Can the White Race Survive? numerous times, which was published in Washington, D. C. in 1929 where Degman lived at the time. Clarence Greeley Degman was born in Springdale, Kentucky in 1870 and was a school teacher and administrator before joining his brothers in Reno, NV in 1901. He worked as a painter, mail carrier and mining speculator/stockbroker before returning to Kentucky in 1914 where he operated a grocery store. He then moved to Winchester, Viriginia followed by Muskogee, Oklahoma before serving in WWI as an ambulance driver. He relocated to Washington, D. C. in 1919, became an auditor in the General Accounting Office and served as vice president and historian of the Southeast Citizens' Association and chairman of the Public Utilities Commission. He died in 1936. Small 8vo. Light blue cloth boards lettered in red, 126 pp., frontis is a penciled sketch of the author. Some rubbing and soiling to cloth, cheap paper browning, but a very good copy. Only six copies in OCLC.
