Da: Between the Covers-Rare Books, Inc. ABAA, Gloucester City, NJ, U.S.A.
Softcover. Condizione: Very Good. Seven first editions and two authorized reprints. Quartos. Various pagination. Nine individual issues (some stapled) that have been nonprofessionally taped together along the spine. Very good with touch wear to the edges, stain on rear wrap and tapes to the spines affecting mostly the first and last sheets and with some loss to the tape from age; one issue's crossword puzzle has been filled in. A collection of the first nine issue of the *Tolkien Journal*, co-founded and published by Dick Plotz, chairman of The New York Tolkien Society. The first two issues, which are reprints of the original one-sided flyer and three-page second issue, are large attempts to find, recruit and report on Tolkien fandom nationwide. By the third issue, the magazine has swell due to new members from a one-person newsletters to printed 12-page fanzine with multiple contributors per issue exploring the world of Lord of the Rings under the new banner of The Tolkien Society of America. Uncommon. *OCLC* locates 13 locations over eight records, with about half in United States, but with most records of individual issues unclear.
