Aggiungi al carrelloTrade paperback. Presumed first edition/first printing. [8], 294, [2] p. By the author of Quartet. From the rear cover: "How far will a woman go to fight terrorism? Cynthia James goes all the way--as a patriotic assassin, trained to seduce and execute the terrorists who killed her brother. She joins Patriots for Freedom, a covert organization using advanced surveillance technology, an organization that blurs the line between patriotism and revenge. Rigorous training and perilous missions in Bermuda, Spain, and England empower Cynthia. But killing dangerous men--and enjoying it--jars her identity, igniting passion for both an unpredictable man and a sensous woman. Ambitious executives control Patriots for Freedom. When their power struggle endangers Cynthia, she faces a dilemma: leave herself vulnerable, or turn on her bosses, Cynthia's decision initiates a series of twists that spiral out of control. Patriot James pits a scarred woman, searching for her best, against the worst of enemies, Cynthia faces questions that many contemplate in today's world. Where does patriotism end and vengeance begin? Is technology more trustworthy than people? How should a civilized society fight terrorism? Is Cynthia James a patriot? Readers may not agree on an answer, but they will experience the same intriguing adventure." Good. Cover has creased corner but little other wear and soiling.

Aggiungi al carrelloTrade Paperback. Condizione: Very good. Presumed First Edition, First printing. 232, [4] pages. Inscribed by the author on the title page. Inscription reads: 1/4/04 Mary--Thanks for all your help and management on this. It was fun to write and it's great knowing you enjoyed it so. I look forward to many more years of working with you. St. Claire. Previous owner's name and notes inside front cover. Told in the vibrant voices of this Irish-American family, St. Patrick's Day is the story of the Riley's of Washington, D.C., who have made their way up from poverty to the well-to-do suburb of Chevy Chase, Maryland. Built around Mary Riley's estrangement from her daughter Mary Kate, the book explores the many faces of love as a family overcomes discrimination and loss to find success and fulfillment, all nudged along by a bitter sweet miracle. This is a volume in the author's Swampoodle Trilogy. P.D. St. Claire is the pen name of Paul Belford, a Washington DC-based executive recruiter. Made up of the first letters of his children's given names - Peter, David and Claire - he first used it for Notes from a Passage, a collection of stories and thoughts that capture the values learned in his own raising and in the course of his life experiences. A native of Long Island, New York, he has lived in the Washington, DC area since 1968. His great grandfather, Michael Moran, landed in New York harbor in 1850 aboard the William Hitchcock, one the hundreds of 'coffin ships' that evacuated more than a million starving refugees from Ireland during the Great Famine of 1845-52. Michael Moran was later to found the Moran Towing Corporation whose tugboats ply New York harbor to this day. A product of Chaminade High School (Mineola, NY), Paul attended Boston College as an undergraduate and earned a MA in Economics at Fordham University in the Bronx, New York. Between BC and Fordham, he spent a year teaching Economics at Al-Hikma University, in Baghdad, Iraq, another Jesuit institution.
