But I still have a brick from the room I was born in.Less than 40 years have passed, and the bulldozers are back again, right in front of the church hall. This time it's for the big new shopping centre: 15,600 square metres of glass, sliding doors, shelves. A hypermarket, 58 shops, 10 restaurants and a bookstore. There's even a gym.Today a wisp of smoke still rises from the heart of the old village. A bakery makes dozens of loaves of warm crusty bread. The birth of this second book by Angelo Vignali happened when he approached the enormous archive of photographs and drawings his father produced throughout his life. Vignali, whose work is often systematic, decided to take another path and went for a very personal matter. He discovered 313 black and white cut-out vintage prints of his father fingers. While working with these photographs and bringing back the presence of his father's hand, Vignali saw the astonishing similarity with his own hands. The photographic and performative book 'How to raise a hand' is mysterious, touching and funny at the same time. The author raises questions like: What if family is more similar to each other than we ever could imagine? What if our bond with who is no more with us, is very substantial? Do those who are no longer alive, keep on living within us?The best result in making art is when you totally surprise yourself and others with the result of it. And that's exactly what happened to Vignali, to me and hopefully to you, seeing this raw and intimate experiment. The past and the future of life go hand in hand in this finger licking good book. After living for several years in the chaos of influences that is New York, the visual artist Satoshi Tsuchiyama realized that it is Israel that is the world's hub for contemporary dance. His experiences of working with both dance and Jewish artefacts fused together. Questions arose in his head: Since the political situation has long been unstable in this religiously and culturally rich region, what kind of normal everyday life can be found there? What colours and scents does a country like this retain, and how do the dancers appear and move under the influence of an environment like this? He decided to go there to witness the extraordinary on a daily basis.During his four visits to Israel and Palestine in 2017-19, he wandered in scorching sand and graffiti-filled streets, climbed to the collapsing top floor of the art school. He followed the desires of his eyes. The dancers he met came from all over the world, but they seemed to share the same mood, the same force that oozed out of the ground. And one and the same aura accompanied their bodies in a common direction. He avoided all the areas at high risk of terror, but death and the random character of life were present wherever he went. The energy of the inhabitants to survive was strong, and he experienced a singular beauty in this raw, tough and vulnerable ordeal of perseverance and adaptation. Libro.

There is only one photograph of Sheikh Amadou Bamba, the founder of the Mouride sect of Islam. He is standing beside a wooden wall, wearing a white kaftan. It is sunny: he squints into the light. And although his face is partially concealed, his eyes are visible. He stares directly into the camera this portrait is probably the most reproduced image in Senegal. Orginally taken in 1917, it is replicated across every imaginable surface in the country.This process of continual reproduction has seen Amadou Bamba's portrait transform from a representation into an icon;- from the prosaic to the sublime - is the central theme of Dani Pujalte's project. Initially tracing the passage of Bamba's image across the everyday surfaces of Senegal, his photographic inquiry expands to document a broader theme: the ongoing dialogue between commerce and faith, material culture and Sufi mysticism.
