Before the diagnosis I went blind in a two-week period. Then to the hospital, got the right medication, and I could see within a couple months. While losing an ability would be terrifying, God was with me. Now, I can truly see.

We are the lamps, and Jesus is the oil who fills us up. The Father and Son are one; when help is needed, they come together. The Father and Son are constantly paying us with spiritual income and being loyal to God--who is the Creator, King, and Master--makes us royalty. Don't forget if we mess up, we do have a jealous God with much love. The Good News is Jesus offers us the gift of salvation, and it's free to share the gospel with all. I remember asking God this question who was His mother and father I was only seven years old. Living in New York on a street that was basically all black people living there as a kid life was simple, Me and my sibling knew nothing or very little about racism. Our parent was from Florida and said very little about the way of live in the 40's and 50's. I would ask question and I remember my dad telling me about the KKK walking down the streets in white sheets and all the black's could do was run or stand way back. We move from the city to the country where we went to a predomantly white school my life changed and I learned much and I fell, but got back up. Living on the farm was a way to interact with my sister and brother all we had was each other I grew up got a job met the Lord and now live is good.

Previous research focused on the effects on different family members, but more specially the effects on children and adolescents, to be detri…mental(Al-Sharfi Pfeffer & Miller, 2015).Polygyny as a complex family system has however, been little explored in relation to its effects on the child's later adult relationship quality. The purpose of this study therefore, was to explore the experiences of African Diasporas who were brought up in polygynous households, and how this may have affected their ability to develop adult relationships. Three adults of African descent took part in the study, and were recruited through purposive volunteer sampling. A qualitative design using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA), to investigate participant's personal narratives was implemented, so that the meaning of growing up in a polygynous household had for them could be explored. A semi structured interview was designed to explore the participants' relationships with their fathers, mothers, fathers' other wives, and the other children in the family. How they feel the experience of growing up in a polygynous household has affected their adult relationships was also explored. Four super ordinate themes emerged from the data: 'patriarchal society', illustrating ruling power men have over the households in general; appearance versus reality', illustrating camouflage behaviours members of the family displayed; 'relationships', illustrating interpersonal group dynamic; and, 'distance', illustrating a distant father during childhood and the participants' tendency to become avoidant of intimate or social relationships as adults. These findings shed light on a previously unexplored topic and illustrated how polygynous households in childhood have lasting effects on individuals' social and emotional skills across the lifespan. Despite the obstacles he faced through his entire childhood, he was able to overcome every single one relying on the intervention and protection of the God Almighty. He learns that the key and answer to all struggles relies on trusting Him and always walk under His wings. Dr. Sanchez-Rivera was born and raised in Coamo, Puerto Rico, a small town in the south-central portion of the island. He is the eldest of two brothers and the proud son of successful public-school teachers. Through his life, God has been a primordial component of everything he and his family does. He completed his medical degree and Pediatric training in Puerto Rico. Eventually God brought him to Camden, NJ where he completed his post-graduate training in Pediatric Critical Care. Along the way, God provided a wonderful ideal companion through his lovely wife Aixa, with whom he had two children, Efrain Abdiel and Ainesis Marie. Being a God's servant and an ordained minister, Dr. Sanchez has served in multiple roles in the church of God, depending of its needs. He currently lives in Florence, SC with his lovely family where he works in healthcare and serves at Compassion Church of Florence, SC.
