How we move forward can either cripple our future or help us find hope and healing which leads to a life of victory. It boils down to choices we make. We can remain in our pity party ask God 'why' did this happen to me or we can ask God 'what' do you need to do in me now that this has happened If we ask 'why', we often times take on a victim mentality as where asking 'what' can help us learn to trust that God really can use all things for our good and His glory. The author shares her experience of choosing to trust God in the midst of her sister's murder and how it set her free to live Valued, Accepted, and Loved. She invites you to journey with her these 14 days and find your own hope and healing and proclaim with her 'I am V.A.L.' Aggiungi al carrelloTaschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. Neuware - The fifteen Psalms, 120-134, are given a basic metaphorical interpretation. The metaphor is of a group of people on a spiritual journey from a life of problems to a lifestyle of praise and fellowship with God. Three important annual feasts of Israel, Passover, Pentecost, and Tabernacles required every male of Israel to appear before the Lord. (Exodus 34:23). These Psalms may have been sung by a company of pilgrims traveling to Jerusalem to attend the feasts. (Psalm 42:4, and Psalm 122.) The word for pilgrimage is used to describe the journey up to Jerusalem. The word may refer to the fact that the city of Jerusalem, with its twin hills of Mt, Moriah and Mt. Zion, became the site of the Temple of God and the throne of David. Each Psalm has the heading A Psalm of Degrees. There are many explanations for the significance of the heading. The word translated degrees can also mean ascent. Jerusalem is geographically elevated above the surrounding area. The journey starts in Mesech (Psalm 120:5-7) and ends in the house of the Lord, or Moriah. (Psalm 134.) This being true, the journey starts with problems in Mesech and ends in praise in Jerusalem. Dr. Byron Allen, Jr. is retired after serving for about sixty years as pastor of churches affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. These churches have been located in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Howard Payne University with studies in Bible, English, History, and Greek (1951). He received a Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (1968) and a Doctor of Ministry degree (summa cum laude) from Bethany Divinity College and Seminary (1986). Dr. Allen is familiar with the biblical languages (Hebrew and Greek) and uses them to glean fresh and meaningful messages from Bible words. Previously published books by Dr. Allen include Pray Like This: Nine Modes for More Meaningful Praying; His Excellent Name: A Thirty-Day Devotional Study of Names of God; In His Presence: A Study of the Presence of God and a Fresh Insight into Worship and Music; In the Garden, A Book of Devotional Studies with special emphasis for caregivers; and The Praying Prophet, A Study of a Conversation with God About Prayer based on the Old Testament book of Habakkuk; From Problems to Praise, A Study of Psalm 120-134. Dr. Allen's purpose in publishing these books is to help Christians develop a close personal and meaningful fellowship with God and grow in the art of worshipping God.

From all outward appearances, we were living the good life; but, like so many of you, we had a family secret. As young adults, we make plans. As mature adults, we look back and ask the question: 'How did we get here ' Sometimes we forget that during life's journey 'we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places' (Ephesians 6:12). We try to navigate the challenges of life on our own. When our efforts are not successful, we may fall to a place of helplessness and hopelessness. In that place, God can show you that He restores. This book is for those of us who have suffered and continue to suffer from the behavior of an addict and our response to that behavior. This book is especially for those who thought their beliefs and faith would buffer them from the difficult challenges that this type of life would bring and is a reminder to us all that it is possible to move forward and mature into flourishing human beings despite difficult circumstances.

It is a sweet, funny and creative combination of poetry and encouragement centered on Christian values and the Word of God. During the most painful times of my life, I would write. Poems like 'The Whispered Cry' and 'He Has a Plan', 'Closer than You Think', 'The World is His' and 'Arise' would unfold. At times of heartache, joy, listlessness- my journeys with the Lord were expressed in a poetic form as an outlet of healing and growth. These poems encourage my heart, my soul and mind that were generated from the tales of my life. I hope these poems touch you with the sweet touch of joy, laughter and tender encouragement. Be Encouraged! Vangela Alicia Beard was born at Yale Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut. Raised in North Philadelphia, I learned the importance of community and neighborly awareness. At the age of 17 years of age, I accepted the LORD Jesus Christ as my personal Savior. Encouragement came in many forms of my life and one form is my smile. My gap-toothed smile has been an anchor of comfort during the most tumultuous times. Creative writing has always been a wonderfully delightful form of encouragement and healing. I've been lovingly married for four years and counting to hubby Orlando 'Keith' Beard and step-mom to Keshawn Beard.
